Hey Julie!

What a great note you left me! Yes, Joey likes "Joe" so I will humor him with stuff like the family characters, but he will ALWAYS be my Joey and he knows it! The kids at school call him Joe, but he is still Joey at home. Yesterday I heard Jesse call him Joe for the first time, and it sounded so funny to me!

I hope we both get nice weather for camping too! A part of me thinks I'm crazy for going camping without Steve as well, but I am willing to give it a try. The tent will definately be the biggest challenge, but once that's up we should be good to go! I like to take the kids away for a weekend during the summer so Mr. Schauer can get something done around the house! I can't wait to hear all about YOUR camping trip!

When do you guys go back to school? I can't remember if you started your summer vacation that much earlier than we did? Ours started On June 11th. I know the last month is going to fly by as we have so much planned! My house won't be too quiet when Jesse goes to school as I will still have other children here. It will certainly be weird to not have any of my children home. Jesse will be home in time for lunch, so that will be nice! I still can't believe my baby is starting school though.

Thanks for introducing me to Cheryl. I almost told her that any friend of Julie's is a friend of mine! Too funny! I'm looking forward to getting to know her family better!

Have a great week!
I'll be emailing soon!!
Hugs and kisses to everyone!!
Love,
Kristin

There's a small tear in my eye... I love Manny and we even met him when I was preggos with Quinn. He rubbed my tummy!
I GUESS you guys can have him. I hope he eats so many fish tacos and In and Out Burgers that he can't run. LOL
I have now started a Dodgers curse...
What have I done? LOL
-a very sad Lauren and family...     Aug 02 2008

Hey. Not fair! you guys got Manny?!!!
It's because I made those bows... Well, at least he didn't go to NY. Say Hi to Papi for me at the game.
-Lauren     Aug 02 2008

Jules, I am so happy everything worked out and we were able to meet today. We all had a blast. What a great place. We should really meet there more often. Spending time with the Torresluna's.... now that's fun!!!

Those are actually proofs of things I DIDN't buy (Well, one I did buy.)
She wanted $650 for the CD. SO, we bought $355 worth of pics and books. I begged her for a few thumbnail pics to put on the site. Mind you, she owns the major rival site of BHP, so she was not ready to give some free pics! LOL

Come on Julie, those photo's made me crack up! Landon STOLE the show!!!
-LOL, Stacey G.     Jul 30 2008

Julie,
Those pictures of the kids were great! Landon is such a cutie, even though he wasn't co operating! I am sure he will love those when he grows up!
Hope all is going well with the kids and that they are getting calmed down from that earthquake. I am sure that would rattle me too!
Hugs,
Stacey
-bhp/winsteads     Jul 30 2008

Glad to here that everything is okay after the earthquake. We will keep Emma in our prayers. Landon was most likley a little shock up after all the shaking to take a nap by himself, I'm sure you wont' have any problems with him today. It sounds like the girls might need a little nap also after being so restless. I can relate when we felt that one here at work the one in Elko. I felt shaking all day and I work in a scale house so when the trucks pulled onto the scales the building shakes. I grabed the wall a few times through out the day. Give them another day or two and things should be back to normal. I can't say I would change Idaho living for California living due to the shaking lol.
-The Lowes     Jul 30 2008

Julie,

Glad to hear that everyone is fine... How scary! I did however, LOVE your latest pictures... I got a good laugh from Landon.. these will be pictures you look back on and have a good one once the kids are grown!! Despite him being upset he sure did look handsome!!

Hugs!
-Jen W     Jul 30 2008

Pictures are so funny, very real. Gotta love that attitude of I don't want to. You're a great mom, sometimes kids gotta win. Love you,
-Mom     Jul 29 2008

So glad to know you're all well after the earthquake. I've decided that I'll take the seasons and even the cold any day. It struck me as funny (not funny haha) that Maddy knew what to do because she learned in school. We have fire and tornado drills here... but my kids wouldn't have a clue what to do during an earthquake!

Goodness it's been awhile since I showed some love to my bhpbff and the kiddos! Julie, I have to tell you that you might have the all time funniest photo session EVER! You can't help but laugh when you see those pictures! The kids individual pictures turned out beautifully so I guess it wasn't a total bust! I have no doubt you were smiling despite Landon having a mind of his own! What a fun age!! Gosh, those pictures really cracked me up!

All my kids were potty trained right around 2 years old. Jesse took the longest, and I think he was 28 months. I found M & M's to be a great reward (1 for # tinkles, 3 for poop, and 4 for both!) Great motivation for my kids, but they don't get many sweets so this worked well. I guess the trick is finding out what works for each child. I always used the padded underwear (except for nap and bed) and always made sure I said, "It's time to try to go potty" instead of asking if they had to go. The older kids were always wonderful cheerleaders for the younger ones, and I also praised THEM everytime they went, and gave them M & M's too because then the younger ones wanted to go even more! Yes, Joey at 11 years old was getting M & M's for going potty because his little brother wanted to be just like him! Again, whatever works! I'm one that thinks there's a time and place for bribery, and potting ranks right up there! Good luck! Sorry to write so much, but I had lots to catch up on!

Lots of love to everyone! Thinking of you!!

Check in to see if you are all okay... I'm sure its scared the kids up a bit a 5.8 isn't all that relaxing lol. From the email we got it sounds like you are all okay but keep us posted. We are thinking about all of you guys in Cali, and praying that not to much damage was done.

I love the New pictures from the Studio. You've got such a beautiful family!!
-The Lowes     Jul 29 2008

YEAH! I'm not the only one feeling like Emily is late with the potty training! Although, I think it's partially my laziness! She'll be almost 3 by the time she's done at the rate we're going! Hang in there! Speaking of... better go make sure the big girl panties are not wet!
-Christy     Jul 29 2008

By the way, do you know anyone who wants Dodgers bows too? I have extras sitting here and it is bad luck to wear another team's bows!
-Lauren     Jul 28 2008

Sure! It isn't until September 9th, so it will be a few weeks though. I'm really having fun with this!

-Lauren     Jul 28 2008

Julie,

I was thinking after I signed the guestbook about the potty training thing too.. that everyone always told me... just remember they won't be going to kindergarten in their diapers.. so hang in there. Oh and I forgot another important thing.. we always had peepee in the potty parties!Shouting and dancing and clapping the words "whoo hoo Derek pee peed in the potty!" and his brothers even cheered so I know this helped too. And I never yelled about the messes. I took a lot of deep breathes. ha ha. Anyway hang in there... have a great week!
-Debbie      Jul 28 2008

Hi Jules, You have lots of answers to your "Hot Topic". I have a 6 year old now and don't want to go back and think of how it's done. Don't worry about it. When you least expect it, he will be trained. Then it will be Ava's turn. I am just so happy I don't have to be in that boat any more. I am excited about seeing you Wednesday night. David's Bridal. We can try on our dresses and get pics and post them... NOT!! I love you. See ya! :o)

-Sissy     Jul 27 2008

Wow what a great topic for discussion.. potty training.. I personally have a few thoughts.. when I was potty training Teddy (no 10 so it was 8 yrs ago) I was all excited as pull ups were the new thing.. so I tried them for like a week and realized that it was realy no different than being wet in a diaper.. so then I just decided to get the old fashioned lightly padded underwear and only when we were going out into town did I put the rubber pants on.. I tell you what within 2 days of the underwear he was trained. Then with Austin I did the same.. it was about 3 to 5 days for him as he loved to poop on the carpet. Derek.. by 2 1/2 he was ready to try to be potty trained and it was like 5 days for him too. My largest obstacle was trying to convince daycare NOT to put them in pull ups. I think that undies help the situation.. and if I was able to be a SAHM I think that would have helped too.. BUT anyway I am off of my soap box but I never even used a diaper or pull ups at night for them and then they realized that they had to wake up when they felt wet.. WOW it was a lot ofwork and a lot of wash but it was well worth it!
-Great Topic! Debbie Wax     Jul 27 2008

Hello from pouring, thunderstorm & lightning NY... I hope you are all doing well.. HHMMM potty training!!! What a topic! Maya just turned 2 (actually today, lol) and I am no where near potty training her. She is soooo not ready. She is a very late walker (just started now).., so potty training is on the back burner. To me each kids is very different and TRUST me it will come. I have gotten LOTS of suggestions from people.. They have told me leave the potty out and have the child with no diaper on.. HMMM Not sure if I want PP on the carpet.. lol Also, I heard of dedicating 2 full weeks of being home bound and let them run around naked in the yard.. hhmmm lol..Of course there are the M&M rewards.... My favorite was to take cheerios and put them in the toilet bowl and make a game out of it by having Landon aim for the Cheerios.. That seems to be the best one I can think of. Being that you have a house full of girls, have Landon go in the bathroom when Christian is going so he watches him. I know it sounds weird but hey when your desperate we try anything. Good luck with this mission as mine will start in the next few months. UGH.. Have a great day!
-Hugs, Stacey G.     Jul 27 2008

Julie,
I think we are rushing are kids to grow up to fast. Parents weren't concerned about the alphabete or numbers until Kendergarden so they worked more on the potty training stuff now they are exspected to know there alphabet and how to spell there name and count before they even reach pre-school so we as parents have adapted to that and spend more time with our children teaching them that. Another possability back when we were growing up mommy's stayed home this day in age a lot of mommy's work so the kids are put in daycare with other kids and daycare works really don't have the time to potty train children all by themselves... Just my thoughts.

Have a great Week!

Julie....

I got a chuckle out of your last story...I have been kicking myself over GiGi not being potty trained. Couple of months ago GiGi did really good for a whole week with out any accidents etc. Then all of a sudden she just stopped. Today as a matter of fact I took her pull up off and got busy with throwing the dirty one away that I forgot to put a new one....Well packing I heard GiGi in the bathroom USING HERE TOLIET....She did both numbers in there. I guess I need to leave her nightgown on with no pull up for her to use the potty. I just hope to our Heavenly Father that she is potty trained before her 3rd birthday in Sept. Yikes...It's true your first child gets so much one on one attention that they meet the expectations much sooner than there siblings.

Enjoy your weekend,

Tina

I will have my VBS and Big Bear pics up by tomorrow. Promise. We missed you this week.
-your favorite sister!!      Jul 25 2008

I hear ya on the potty traning and it does seem as my kids grow older that they potty train later but then a again it could just me not being able to dedicate all my time potty training lol! Alexis was started at 19 months and fully trained at 22 months but my only child lol so how easy was that to stay on top of it. Ricky was 2 and 1/2 and i let him go at his own pace one morning i heard him in the bathroom and lo and behold there he was stading and peein lol from then that was it. Arlee was hmm i believe about 2 and half also and was pretty easy Timber i started on but have not really rushed it. I still have her in diapers but some days she insists on wearing her big girl panties lol! She now goes on the potty all on her own and i find it the more i push the more she doesnt want to. Because after she goes (most of the time without me knowing) She always said I am a big girl mommy! and will wear underwear all day without a problem. However if i push he throughout the days when she is not into it seems she is so much more unwilling so hopefully in the next couple months she will be on track but i do say Whats the hurry huh? LOL. You all look as you are so enjoying your summer ours is ok i just wish we had Rick around and it would be alot easier on me too. But we will survive i am counting down till when we can all be together for good and the end of this year will creep up before i know it then he will be home hopefully Fall of 2009 ughhh. Anyhow sorry for the novel guess i am in one of those moments just venting out i guess. Lots of love sweetie!! Give the kiddos big big hugs!
And oh yes can you believe how fast the girls are growing make me so bummed. I love there little words and i am on the next battle with tylie trying to stand on her own OMG the other day she crawled right up to me stood up and let go just standing there on her own it was sooo cute oooh how i will miss those little baby das but it is nice to watch them turn into the beautiful people that we have created!
God Bless
-Jamie Ward     Jul 25 2008

I would rather change a poopy diaper than throw away poopy underwear! Who cares? Children can read, write, and count faster than ever now. I worry more on phonetic development than peepee. Q is 80 percent there. It is hard since we are in the pool so much and it is easier to her to just stay in the pool... LOL
-Lauren     Jul 25 2008

I think Landon has the right idea with "boy powder". Just throw some Diego pictures on the container. That would be a good invention. I think it would sell. lol

I want to go camping!! Kumbyah, my Lord... There is too much wildlife around here; I'd be afraid to wake up with a bear or wolf in my face!

Hey Julie!!!

You are the best... you are one of the few that actually still look at my site hehe... I know I have been so bad at updates, I really don't know how you keep up. I did pretty good for a while but once summer comes around I just have a hard time sitting at the computer since I work on one all day long... I had a whole week off work and wow I feel so revived!

OMGosh Ava is getting SO BIG and Ooooh she is just sooo stinkin' cute, just like your other kiddo's, they all look a like yet different at the same time, you do such a great job at capturing every little moment... I wanna be like JULIE!

Take Care!

I used to make my own food, too! I actually remember buying a bag of peas and carrots and separating the peas and carrots into different bowls and then keeping some mixed together! Those jars of food are expensive! Try edamame, yummy! We also used to bake apples and cherries and add it to her little YoBaby yogurt. The play looks like fun. We are going to one in August.

I'm so sorry I missed this!
