6/20/07: Christian is still in New York. He comes home on Saturday afternoon. We have kept ourselves very busy since he has been gone, but we really miss him!! Tomorrow is our first day with no place we have to be. I plan to stay home with the kids and do laundry, catch up on housework and play with the kids all day long. Since getting off of work today at noon until I go to work Friday morning, I will have no adult contact (besides neighbors and such). My 9 hours that I work per week are actually my break-time this week..LOL! I'm sure tomorrow will be a long day, but I am looking forward to playing with the kids in our new blow up pool and having a fun day to relax at home.
I posted a few videos under my last two stories. One is of the kids at the beach and a couple are of our Father's Day fishing time. Feel free to click on those to view. Enjoy!!
6/18/07: Father's Day afternoon I went to my parents house to celebrate. We had dinner there and then took the kids to the park. Very fun! We spent the night at Tina and Greg's house and took off for Malibu Beach this morning. We stayed at the beach all day today and then came back and had dinner at their place. Amanda and my mom went to the beach too. The kids had so much fun playing together in the waves, catching sand crabs, and building in the sand. Landon has absolutely NO FEAR of the ocean! It was a bit scary how brave he was! He loved the water!! He loved the feeling of sand between his fingers and toes; he even layed down on the sand to let the waves splash over him. It was too cute!
6/18/07: We celebrated Father's Day with Christian on Saturday instead of Sunday because he was leaving for his business trip to New York so early on Sunday morning. Christian wanted to go fishing for Father's Day. We went to a cute little place in Tustin called Huckleberry Pond. It is a stocked pond with lots of catfish. You ahve to buy what you catch...almost everybody catches something. The kids loved it! I'm a little grossed out by the whole worm and and live fish thing, but Christian and the kids loved it so it was enjoyable for me too! Each of the girls got a tug on the line and Christian reeled it in for them. We had catfish filet for dinner on Saturday night (well everyone but me...I don't eat seafood!) It was a fun day. We were sad to take Daddy to the airport at 7AM and wish him off for a week in N.Y. on Father's Day morning. It's only day two and we already miss him a lot!!
6/18/07: The Dad's and Kid's campout was a blast on Friday and Saturday night! It went perfect!! I was thrilled with the turnout and the responses of the Dad's and kids. Everyone had great things to say about it and that they had a fabulous time. I will definitely put it on the calendar again for next year. I did end up staying the night (even though Mom's were not invited). I wanted to be back so early the next day it just didn't seem worth driving home. I set up Landon's pack n' play in the children's library and we slept in there.
6/15/07: For those of you were were curious about our boy's name it was going to be Wyatt Angel (after Christian's Dad) or Wyatt Christian (after Christian). We have narrowed the girls name down to 3 choices... It's so hard!! We are not going to share which 3, it will be fun to surprise you all when we finally decide. You'll see.....
6/13/07: It is still sinking in that we are having a little princess baby! I'm glad we found out. It was my instinct that we were having a girl, but I am glad to know for sure (well, as sure as ultrasounds can be). This way her quilt that my mom will make her will be a girly quilt and not a generic baby quilt too.
Here are the names that Madeline and Emma have chosen for the little belly bean:
Madeline: Maya, Lahna, Annie, Hannah, Jessica, and Samantha.
Emma: Lisa, Sally, Belle, Cinderella, Tinkerbelle, Shayley, Meena, and Reena.
I must say, I don't think we will be choosing any of those- although a few of them are pretty cute.
6/12/07: Our new little blessing is a baby girl. Landon will be outnumbered with 3 sisters. He will hold his special place as the only little boy in our family and the only little boy of all the 7 grandchildren. We are excited to finally know the sex of our baby. Now to come up with a name... We had narrowed it down for a boy, but for a girl, we are down to about 7 or 8 names!?!?!? Well, we have more than 5 months to figure that out. Our little princess is on her way!
06/12/07: Exciting News!! We are going to find out the gender of the baby today!! I made an appointment at a place called Magical Images. Our appointment is at 4:30 today. I have my prenatal visit at 3:00 and then after that will go to the 3D/4D place. I think that my Kaiser ultrasound won't be scheduled until mid July and I really don't want to wait that long... I know, we were going to have it a surprise, but now that I know we are finding out, I want to find out NOW!! Check back later tonight.... Hopefully they will be able to tell.
6/11/07: Here are 2 videos of Maddy playing the piano. The first one is at home practicing her 3 songs and the other one is Maddy playing "Ode to Joy" at her recital.
6/11/07: I am officially 15 weeks along today. It is frustrating knowing that I could know the gender of the baby if we wanted to, but we don't know it yet. I am sooooooo curious!! I have that motherly instinct that it is a girl, but my motherly instinct has not proven very accurate. I was certain that Madeline was going to be a boy. But, I was right with Emma and Landon. Only time will tell.... So, what did everyone think of the baby names? I didn't get very many responses from all you BHP friends out there.
Maddy had her piano recital yesterday. It was outdoors at a beautiful house in Santa Ana. Madeline played beautifully and so did the rest of the students. It's really good for Maddy to hear all the rest of the kids play; it gets her really excited to learn more and play better.
There is a Dad's and Kids campout at church this Friday night. They are bringing: tents, sleeping bags, and the works to stay the night on the church lawn. We will be roasting hotdogs, marshmellow, and doing a movie night under the stars. I am in charge of the planning and facilitating of the night. I'll be the only mom there. I think I will hide out and sleep in the library with Landon as the night dies down. Fun, Fun, Fun!!!
6/7/07: Today I am feeling very yucky! I am not sure if it is the pregnancy or the Dayquil I shouldn't have taken. I was up in the middle of the night totally congested (I think it's a cold but, could possible be allergies?!?!). Well, I took Dayquil this morning and now I feel less congested but, nauseated. I guess it's just gonna be one of those days.
Christian doesn't really like to play the "name game" until later in the pregnancy, or until we know if our little one is a boy or a girl. So, I play it by myself for the first little while. He is pretty set on a boy's name, but we have no clue on a girl's name.
Here are some of our/my choices (In no particular order): Boys: Luke, Lucas, Levi, Wyatt, and Silas. Girls: Victoria, Claire, Catherine, Chloe, Elizabeth, Genevieve, Amelia, Bella, Olivia, and Gabrielle.
We are going to find out the sex of the baby. We could know as early as next week if we go to a 3D/4D ultrasound private place. I think we will wait until my prenatal visit on June 12th to see when they schedule my ultrasound at the hospital. If it is soon, we will wait to find out at the Kaiser appointment, but if it's a long time away, maybe we will pay the costly visit at a "B4 The Stork". Kaiser schedules it anywhere from 17-21wks, B4 the Stork can tell as early as 15wks. I'm 14 1/2 right now. We'll see... I'll keep you all posted.
6/4/07: Only 8 more days of school left. Madeline will continue on to the 1st grade at Fern Drive and Emma will go to preschool at Calvary Baptist Preschool in the fall. They are both excited about the transtion. They get to experience it this Sunday at church for "Promotion Sunday". Emma will move up to the Pre-K / Kindergarten class, and Madeline move up to the 1st and 2nd grade class.
This summer holds many exciting activities for the kids to participate in. I would like to get Emma into swimming lessons early on so that she can enjoy the pool with no swimmies this year. We have lots of fun Mom's Club events to attend like; the beach, pool days, the museum, a movie day, and much more. I love the summer! But a house without air conditioning... I don't look forward to the 100 degree days. On a happy note, we did get one more window air conditioning unit. Now that's one in every bedroom. Yippee!
Madeline has a piano recital this Sunday at 1 PM in Santa Ana. Anyone who would like to come, is welcome. She is playing 2 songs: "A Song About Cats", and "Ode to Joy". I'm sure it will be lovely!
6/4/07: We had a get-together at my Grandma's sister's house on Saturday. My grandma didn't want a funeral service, so the family got together just as a time to see eachother and talk about memories of grandma. I saw my cousins from Washington and Arizona that I havn't seen in 10 years, and I also saw some extended family that havn't seen me since I was a child. It's too bad how it takes a death in the family for everyone to drop everything and visit family. But, it certainly was great to see so many people there to support eachother at this time of loss. My grandma would have loved to be there with everyone together.
My Grandma passed away this afternoon after a 9 month fight with cancer. She was the kindest sweetest lady anyone could have ever met. She always had a smile on her face and a heart full of love. The things I will always remember about my grandma (and her home) are:
Juicy Fruit and Double Mint were always in the cabinet.
Her Red nail polish and Red lipstick
Bringing the green beans to Thanksgiving with the tiny lid to the presure cooker in her purse.
Crayons and coloring books under the coffee table.
Swinging on the porch swing.
The outside brown fridge always filled with soda.
Receiving birthday cards with a brand new crisp $1.00 bill inside.
The sound of the airplanes while we visited in the backyard.
Photos of ALL the kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids on her hutch.
The way she could snap her bubble gum 5 or 6 times in one little little bubble.
Pioneer Chicken handi-wipes and rubber bands in the bowl on the kitchen table.
The feeling of her soft, wrinkly, grandma hands when she talked with us.
Playing Poker on Christmas Day. (She always won!)
She will be forever missed. I'm glad that 3 of my 4 children had the honor of meeting Great-Grandma Ham. She loved them all dearly. Grandma was so great with children. She especially loved babies. I will never forget how she patiently spent at least 20 minutes trying, and finally got Landon to smile when he was only 3-weeks old. I am glad that my family stopped by to see her on Mother's day a few weeks ago. She looked great and was happy to have us all over for the visit. Please pray for my Grandpa. He and Grandma were married for over 60 years. He has lost the love of his life. Also pray for the rest of the family for losing a dear member of our family. God bless Great-Grandma Ham.
5/29/07: This long Memorial Day weekend was a pretty relaxing one. We scheduled a few plans here and there as the weekend went along. Friday night we and Christian's parents went out to Corona to see my sister, Amanda at the new Wood Ranch resaurant. (She is there as a trainer for two weeks)That is the 3rd time we have gone to a "friends and family night"
. The workers of the restaurant serve the friends and family free meals to practice before the big opening. We enjoy the free meal at a nice restaurant and as a bonus we get to see Auntie Manda!! It was fun and the food and service was great.
Saturday we hung around the house most of the day. We had a staff and family BBQ at Pastor Ed's house in the evening. It was great to get together with some of the staff from Iglesia Sunkist as well as some of the staff from Sunkist Community too. Sunday and Monday we did a couple more BBQ's and get togethers with friends (Garravito's, Schubert's, and the Ross'). It was a friends-filled weekend all the way around!
05/25/07: Maddy and I had a great time on our field trip to the aquarium. It was fun to spend so much time with just Madeline without Emma and Landon. All 3 of them deserve time alone with Mommy and/or Daddy. We try to take them on "dates" every once in awhile, but it gets hard with three of them... imagine 4! The whole class stayed together for the beginning of the day. We learned all about sea stars, sea jellies, and octopus from a fun instructor. After that we split into groups (I had Maddy plus 3 others in my group). We explored the tanks and had a really good time together. Maddy and I went for an ice cream cone after school before we picked up Emma and Landon form Mrs. Bey. What a fun day!
5/22/07: We had a great great great time at Knott's Berry Farm yesterday. The park was totally empty. We never had to wait in line for anything. It was awesome! We were there when they opened the gates at 10AM and we stayed until close at 6PM. The kids did wonderful with no naps, we couldn't believe how well they did! Maddy went ton the BIG roller coasters (Boomerange, Jaguar, Ghost Rider...) with Christian. She is like Mommy and Daddy... We love roller coasters. Camp Snoopy was a lot of fun. There were even quite a few rides that Landon got to go on. Emma was thrilled with the family day at Knott's for her birthday. We were thrilled that she picked it. We will remember the day forever!
I don't have time to post all of our pictures from the weekend and Knott's. There were a lot! I am off to the Long Beach Aquarium for a kindergarten field trip today. My friend Vickie is watching Emma and Landon so I can attend this field trip with Maddy's class. What a fun day we have in store! See ya!
Oh yah... I'm out of my first trimester! We are now into trimester #2. Woo Hoo!!
5/20/07: Happy Birthday to our Emma Grace who is turning 4 today!! She has had quite the celebration with a birthday cake and presents last weekend at Grandma and Papa's, she opened presents at 6AM from Mommy and Daddy this morning, we went to McDonalds today just the 5 of us after church, we are going to Lito and Lita's tonight for more cake and presents, and then tomorrow we are going to Knott's Berry Farm for the day! Wow!! It is pretty cool to be a birthday kid around here!! Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!
5/14/07: It's looking like the whole "surprise" thing with the pregnancy may not happen after all. Christian is already asking how many more days till we could find out. I keep telling him we are not finding out, but he REALLY wants to know. We'll see.... but don't be surprised if we know in a month or so.
5/14/07: The other night around 7PM the front door was open and Landon wandered out to the front yard. I saw him go out and I slowly went after him. I thought he would just grab a ball or his bike. Don't worry- I was quick enough that he couldn't have gone into the street. But, I was not quick enough, nor did I think about it that Christian had turned on the sprinkler to water the grass. When I got out front all I see is Landon running through the sprinkler laughing histarically in his shorts, shirt, socks and tennis shoes. Needless to say, I stripped him down and let him go in the sprinklers for a little bit before bed.
05/10/07: Almost out of the first trimester. I will be 11 weeks on Monday and I'm hoping the sleepiness goes away soon. I'm really tired of it. Another side-effect to pregnancy that I get is hallucinations while I am sleeping and partially awake. I know, it sounds absolutely crazy!! But, with all of my pregnancies it has happened throughout the term of the pregnancy. On Tuesday night, Christian had a pair of work boots on the floor by our bed. Around 3:30 A.M., I woke up and saw the long laces of the boots and could swear that they were moving. Immediately I started shaking Christian awake. I was shouting to him that there was a snake on the floor on my side of the bed. My heart was pounding and I couldn't move (in fear that the snake would move). In all my sleep/wake dreams I am extremely convincing to Christian that it is absolutely a fact. So, he grabs the flashlight and carefully walks over to the "snake" and shows me that there is nothing over there. He kinda laughs it off, but he also was frustrated because I just woke him up just an hour and a half before he had to get up for work. Hopefully this will be the last.... I doubt it. I have dreamt of cockroaches and mice in the bed, and the most common one, our new baby is under the covers of our bed and I can't find it..... where do I come up with stuff??! It's not just me, there are other women who have horrible night-terrors and hallusinations during pregnancy. Strange!
05/04/07: Landon had a well-baby check today. Poor little guy was shot up like a pin cushion! He got 4 shots and he also had blood work done. Of course he cried and cried. I felt so sorry for him. When they were doing the bloodwork, one arm wouldn't work well, so they had to poke the other one. Both Emma and I were teared up too....It's so tough to watch somebody you so much have to deal with so much pain. I hate shot days!!
Landon is 27 lbs. 15 oz (65th %) and 33 inches long (50th %).
He really hasn't grown much since he turned 1-year. It's funny how he was such a big baby at a year, and now everyone is catching up to him. He's just perfect to us!!
4/30/07: I had my 2nd prenatal appointment. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat!! That is always the most beautiful sound in the world. My doctor said everything looks great. All my bloodwork came out normal. I have been anemic during pregnancy in the past. So, it was good news to have good iron levels this time. A little over 7 months to go to meet our newest little joy! We have played around with names a bit. But, nothing has stuck quite yet. We'll let you know when we've narrowed it down a little.
