11/12/2004 - Maddy is really starting to draw very well. Check out her picture of Lita in the picture section. She is writing letters and numbers now too. She can do: E, O, I, A, 7, 1, and she tries really hard on an M. At least she enjoys drawing and writing. We're thinking about what to do about preschool. I know she would love it, but oh my...is it expensive! I think we will probably sign her up to start in September.
11/12/2004 - I got my hair cut last night. I really like it! I was tired of having boring straight hair. It's fun to mix it up a little. My friend, Kim Wheildon did the cut for me.
11/12/2004 - The results of our last polls taken on our webpage were: Maddy looks lke Daddy (77% of the votes) and Emma looks like Mommy (64% of the votes). That's what I thought my friends and family would vote. Check out our new polls now! Have fun!
11/8/2004 - I am home from my Women's Retreat weekend. I had a lot of fun. It was really nice to get away! But, I missed Christian and the girls of course. Christian had a great time with them while I was gone. They had a garage sale on Saturday morning and went to see "The Incredibles" in the theater in the afternoon. I thought it was funny that he was attempting to take a 17 month old to the movies. He later agreed, but Maddy loved it and so did Christian! I'm happy to be back home; but I can't wait to do the retreat again next year!
11/4/2004 - It's now my turn to go to women's retreat. Tina is coming to watch the girls on Friday until Christian gets home from work. Then Christian will have the girls the whole weekend. He's pretty excited about it! Maybe we will have fun stories to post about "Daddy's weekend with his girls".
11/1/2004 - The girls had a lot of fun on Halloween night. We went to the Fall Family Festival at church. Maddy said "Orvoir" (spelling??) as she left the carnival booths. Emma was just happy to have a Tootsie Pop in her mouth the entire evening. Christian was roasting corn and I was monitoring bounce houses and working carnival booths. We both got some time to spend with the girls, but not as much as we would have liked. My mom and Dad came to the festival too. It was so nice to have them here to see the big event and help with the girls.
10/29/2004 - Our moms' Club went to a Pumpkin Farm (not just a pumpkin patch). They actually grow the pumpkins and Christmas trees right there on the farm. We took a hayride around the farm and saw the Christmas trees for this season and even the ones for next year! There were lots of cute animals too. Maddy loved and fed them all; Emma stayed as far away from the animals as she could. They both enjoyed playing in the pumpkins. It was a chilly day, but we had a great time!
10/29/2004 - The other night after Madeline had used the bathroom, she was playing in the sink while washing her hands. Christian told her to finish because he needed to go to the bathroom. Maddy told him, "Just go like this, Daddy." (She crossed her legs and put her hands between her legs). "that way you won't have an accident."
10/25/2004 - Christian went to men's retreat weekend last Fri - Sun. The girls and I survived without him, but we missed him. We went to a birthday party for our friends, Addison and Lucus on Saturday. It was a costume party with a halloween theme. Maddy's Madeline costume came in the mail on Friday morning so she was able to wear that to the party. She looked adorable! Emma dressed as a pumpkin, but she did not like wearing it. She kept it on about half of the party. The hat to her costume stayed on for a couple pictures and that was it! Auntie Tete (Montse), went to the party with us. It was nice to have the extra hands there to help with the girls, especially when Emma wandered in the middle of the pinata festivities!
I would post pix of the girls in their costumes, but I don't want to ruin the surprise before Halloween. You'll have to visit our site after Halloween for "the reveal"!
10/21/2004 - Emma is still very interested in the toilet! She keeps dropping things into it. I would get one of those toilet locks, but Maddy wouldn't be able to open it. We try to keep the bathroom door closed, obviously that's not happening. What to do??
10/21/2004 - This morning Madeline and I were talking about how it is almost winter. She told me that it snows in the winter. I told her that she was right, it does snow in the winter. but, we would have to go up in the mountains to see snow where we live. She said, "I don't want to go up to the mountains, I'm scared I will fall off." I told her not to worry, she would not fall off of the mountain...Cute isn't she??
10/21/2004 - I found Maddy's Halloween costume finally. I actually used ebay for the first time. I ordered the "Madeline" costume last night and it should be here by Saturday. I'm a little nervous that it won't come. But, I guess people use ebay successfully all the time. We'll see?!
10/20/2004 - We have had rainy days these past few days. I put on the girls' coats the other day and Maddy's was way too small! We went to Burlington Coat Factory yesterday to buy Maddy a new coat, and there happened to be a matching one for Emma! Had to buy it! The girls have gone out in full rain gear to splash in the puddles. They love it!!
10/18/2004 - We had a super fun weekend with the cousins!! It was actually a lot easier than I imagined. The girls all behaved wonderfully! Check out our pictures to see all the fun things we did!
10/15/2004 - Yesterday we had "Mommy, Maddy, and Emma Stay at Home Day". Christian had not tken the van to work yet to show it off. So, I was home with the truck (room for two). The girls and I spent a relaxing day at home playing in the backyard, watching movies, folding laundry, and makebelieving we were princesses in a castle. It was nice being home all day long with my girls.
10/15/2004 - Today is the day my nieces come to play! I'm looking forward to the girls making memories of being together the whole weekend. We have fun things planned for the five of them to do. I'm sure I'll be exhaused by Sunday night!
10/15/2004 - Madeline has earned her first 2 patches on her Cubbies vest for memerizing her Bible verses. She is pretty proud of herself and we're proud of her too!
10/13/2004 - A day in the life of a 16 month old... At 8:00 in the morning I called Christian at work to tell him the happenings of our day so far. Emma dropped her night-night blanket in the dog's water bowl, She put her favorite doll "Bubba" in the toilet, she fell off the stair and got a little knot under her eye, and while we were outside playing she found a piece of charcoal and bit it. Oh what fun!!
10/13/2004 - Madeline lives in princess dresses. She has "Belle" from last Halloween, "Snow White" from Santa Clause, and "Sleeping Beauty" from Lito and Lita for her birthday. She loves to wear them all the time. Last night we went to Red Lobster for dinner. Maddy was dressed as Snow White and they held our table under the name of Snow White. Both of the girls loved the tanks of lobsters and fish. They even saw Nemo and Dory!
10/13/2004 - Emma is growing taller these days, but she doesn't know it. She keeps trying to walk under things that she used to be able to fit under. She hits her forehead often...poor baby!
10/11/2004 - I think we have decided what the girls are going to be for Halloween. Emma is going to be a pumpkin. We still have the costume that Maddy wore on her 2nd Halloween. It's so much fun to see Emma in Maddy's hand-me-downs! Maddy wants to be be "Madeline" from the story books "Madeline in America" and "Madeline goes to Paris". She's a cute story character with a blue wool coat, a yellow hat, and black "clipity clops". We are going to try to put together the costume for Maddy...we'll see?!
10/11/2004 - This coming weekend I have all three of my sister's children with us. She is going to womens' retreat with her church. Five little girls in one small house, what fun!!
10/11/2004 - This past weekend Christian and I were cleaning out the garage (for a garage sale) while Madeline and Emma were playing around us. They were on the sidewalk doing sidewalk chalk and next thing we know, Emma's face, arms, and legs were colored with chalk. She has a make-up artist for a big sister!
10/8/2004 - The girls have been sick this past week with "hand foot mouth virus". They both had blisters in their mouths and on the palms of their hands. Both of them were hardly eating for 3 or 4 days. It was extremely painful and contagious. We have sadly passed it to a few other families in the church, but luckily it's just a virus that just needs to run it's course. The girls are feeling much better now and are happy to come back to work with me today.
10/8/2004 - While the girls were sick, Maddy Lu and Lauren came over to play because they had the same virus. It was nice for all 4 of them to have some playtime since they had all been cooped up in their houses all week. We figured it didn't matter if all the sick kids played together; they all had it anyway?!
