Stories

It's been so long since I updated this part of the website. I wanted to tell you guys what we have been doing lately. Well, Mason has been doing great in school, he loves his teacher and so do I, she is the best teacher we could have ever asked for.  As you saw some of the pictures, he was awarede the principal's award for being an over all great student. I got tear in my eyes as I read the letter send by the school, inviting us to attend the award ceremony. He also got to have lunch with the principal Dr. Okino and boy... did he liked it. He told me that he had the best lunch and it was great to have had lunch with Dr. Okino. We are proun do him.

For spring break we went to Oklahoma City and visited all the realtives there. Renea, Savannah and grandpa Rick went  with us. I still have to put those pictures up. The boys enjoyed the plane ride and they were very well behaved. I even got a complement from a lady sitting a few rows down from us on what good boys we had. We stayed in the same house grandpa Rick grew up in. I felt very fortunate to have shown the boys where grandpa lived as a boy. To think that they were the 3rd generation that played in the back yard. How cool is that?

O.K as for Mason's birthday, we had a blast. He wanted a snake party and since he has been doing so well in school we had one. We reserved a reptile show from  a store called Prehistoric Pets. They come to your home or the park and do an one  hour show for the kids with a bout 14 animals. The kids loved watching and touching all of the animals and since Mason was the birthday boy he got to hold all of the animals. All the parents thought the party was great and they loved taking pictures of the kids with all the animals. Thank you all for coming and celebrating with us.

February 13,2006. It was nap time for Connor, so I laid him down and closed the bedroom door. I was getting some work done around the house and I could hear Connor still awake. He was talking and moving around. I had no clue what he was doing.

He usually wants a toy  when he takes a nap so I gave him a dinosaur. But I always go back in the room and take the toy away once he falls a sleep (so he won't hurt himself with it). He finally quiet down, so I went to check on him. To my surprise I walked in and saw him covered in marker. I guess he found it somewhere in the room and went to town coloring himself. I ran to get the video and digital cameras. I could not stop laughing and felt terrible at the same time. I had to leave him like that until he woke up. Thank goodness the marker was the washable kind.

I e-mailed Zach the pictures to his work. He and his co-workers got a kick out of them. Of course I'll be making a scrapbook page of this even and the title will be "Crayons and Markers go up one drawer higher" like the country song "Mr. Mom"

December 25th,2005. Merry Christmas to everyone. As much as I love Christmas, I get so relieve when its all over. We had a busy Christmas season this year. The boys had lots of fun things to do with their preschools and with us too. We are starting to realize how small our home really is.  We seemed to run out of space during Christmas. Mason actually found one of his presents in the garage.I thought I had a good hiding place. Boy was I wrong!!!

We celebrated Christmas eve with my sister and her family and with Grandpa Rick. We had a very non-traditional dinner "enchiladas, beans and rice" Everyone loved it. Mason got his first real  bike from santa and Connor got a huge dump truck, but I think his most favorite thing was the soccer ball Grandpa gave him. We are very thankful for all the things we got and for having a good year too. We hope next year God will bless us with all the things we need.

We drove to the Kern on Chirstmas day after the kids open their gifts from Santa. We visited Renea, Savannah and Murl. It was very cold and it rained all night long( I liked it). The next morning it started to hail really hard. Connor got a little bit scared from all the noice the hail made on the roof. It was that loud. !!! After the rain stopped we drove up the mountain to see the snow. It was so cold and I was not well prepared to deal with it.  The boys still had fun and Mason even made a snow angel on the snow. (Loved that for the scrapbook)

Over all we had a great Chirstmas and a great time at the river. Hope your was great too.

November 20th,2005. Thomas the tank engine is the boys most favorite character and when I heard he was coming to California, I bought tickets to go see him. The drive to Lake Perris was long but I was well worth it. The boys we so excited. Mason had the biggest smile on his face. It felt so good to see him so excited. They loved seeing all the other engines there. Since this place is a museum for trains, there was plenty to see. We got to ride on a Caboose and climb on some pretty old passanger cars. Thomas only comes to California once a  year, we'll see how long the boys like trains.

October 23,2005. This year I wanted to do something different than taking the boys to a regular pumpkin patch. My friend Reina  told me about a farm in Irvine. It is a 30 acre farm where you can pick your pumpkins from the vine. They take you back and forth all around the farm in a tractor. The boys loved riding in it. They had a maze for kids and also a petting zoo. Lots of places for pictures( for my scrapbook). We all enjoyed visiting the farm. Can't wait for next summer when they will open  the farm to the public for strawberry picking.

August 13th, 2005. Today we were all very excited to go see Dora the Explorer Live show at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. Zach and I were excited for the kids and the kids,,,, well they were just excited. There were lots of people  all around the Chinese Theater. They were dressed in customs like spiderman and Elvis and other charecter too. I wanted to take more pictures, but Zach just wanted to get inside the theater...too many wierdos. This was my first time  seeing the Hollywood stars on the side walk and also my first time seeing the Chinese Theater.( I didn't even get to be in the picture) We went inside and the attendent that directed us to our seats tolds us look under our seats. So we did, and to our surprise there was a sticker under Mason's seat. This meant that he had won a prize. During the intermission he got to go pick up his price. He got a canvas goody bag filled with little gifts, a flash light ,stickers, crayons, a puzzle, a kaleidoscope and a few more fun  little things. He felt really special. The show was FANTASTICO, really we all enjoyed it very much. And for the scrapbook...well, since I couldn't take any pictures I found some on the internet that will do just fine.

August 14th,2005. We decided to camp out with the kids out in the back yard.  We thought it would be fun and also great practice for the real thing. Zach, my self, the kids and their cousins Sam and James were going to sleep in one big tent that Nancy let us barrow. We had a fun filled evening, starting with an outdoor dinner which consisted of hot dogs, chips and drinks. Followed by the making of smores, cooked over a propane stove. After that we brought out the laptop and watched "Might Joe Young"( Disney Movie). So much for roughing it!! I bought a story book appropiate for the outdoor theme. It was called "Possum's Harvest Moon" which we never got to read because Connor kept jumpimg all over everyone. And just as we expected, things didn't go as we planned. In the middle of all this James got home sick and had to be taken back to his Mom. By 10 p.m Connor was still jumpin on the air mattress, I guess he tought he was inside one of those jumpers. So I decided to come inside the house and let him sleep in his bed. And I slept comfortably in my bed.  I guess will try again next summer.

August 5th, 2005 More fun trips for the kids. This time My sister Nancy and her kids joined us. We took the kids to El Dorado Nature Center in Long Beach. This is such a nice place and also a learning place for the whole family. We did the mile hike around the park and got to see, hear and touch all the wonderful things nature has to offer. At the center they have things that the kids could touch and feel and they get to explore all the fun things they have there. Like real nests, skins that snakes have shed and antler. They boys had a blast chasing squirls and lizards too.

After that long walk, we were all hungry. We went to subway's and had lunch. But the day did not end there. After Connor's  nap, we set up the pool and the kids spend all afternoon in the water. They all slept like logs that night.

July 31st,  2005 I am trying to keep up with all the pictures  from all the activities we have been doing this summer. I try to leave the pictures up for a few days before I put the new ones up. On this Sunday afternoon we went for a drive by the beach, looking for a nice place to have some ice-cream. But the beaches here in California get so packed, that we just kept on driving. We ended up in a very nice park in Fountain Valley that  Zach and I have been to before we had the kids. On this particular afternoon  the city was hosting a orchestra concert right there at the park. It was so nice. There were alot of people with blankets and food having a great time. We had ice-cream and the boys got to play and run around all over the park. We all had a great time and I got some great pictures for the scrapbook.

July 23rd,2005. Summer is here and we are always looking for sun things to do. Today we took the boys to the Long Beach Aquarium. It is the perfect place for families with little ones. Is kinda small, is close to the beach, wich means cooler weather and fairly inexpensive for southern California. We got there as soon as it opened (9:00 a.m.)and were there for  about 3 hours. This was perfect because as we were leaving the crowds were growing bigger and bigger and it was getting hotter to.The shark exhibit was great, even Zach and I were amazed by all those sharks and the largest mantta rays we have ever seen.  Afterwards we had lunch and Bubba Gum Restaurant and went for a nice short walk along the water. The boys had so much fun and were so tired that they both fell a sleep on the way home.

July 25th, 2005. All last week Mason attended Vacation Bible School at Sunkist Comunity Church. It's about 20 miles from home, and I didn't want to make the drive back and forth. So I stayed with him and helped out with anything I could. We both had such a great time and we got to make new friends. The Church had planned a fun week for the kids filled with activities and  games  that though them lots of things about God. They practiced some wonderful songs about God and they got to sing them for the whole congregation on Sunday morning. After the service we stayed for a BBQ and for more fun games. Over all it was a great week for all of us. We can't wait to do it again next year.

July 4th,2005 We went to the Kern River over the 4th of July Holiday weekend. My sister's family came with us, so we had a full house that weekend. The river was high, moving very fast and very, very cold. But we still went in for a quick dip everyday we were there. All the cousins had fun together and boy did they all get dirty.(Just take a look at some of the pictures) One night, we stayed up late  hopping to get a glimpse at the attemp the Americans made to try to hit an asteroid passing by. Let just say that all we got out of this event was a sore neck. The next moring while watching the news,  we found out the event was a success..Over all the weekend was a well desserved time off for everyone there. On the evening of the 4th, we were back home and  celebrated a bit more with fireworks for all the kids..big and small.

June 30,2005 We were cleaning the back yard, in preparation  for the 4th of July weekend Holiday. The water ran down and collected in a place where  Mason is constanly digging, and we are constantly filling back up. The  boys didn't waste any time and started playing in the mud. Zach called me to stop the mudness, but instead I ran for the camera.        I am always looking for scrapbooking oportunities.  The boys had lots of fun  playing with the mud and tha's all that mattered.

June 18,2005. Happy Father's Day. The boys surprised Zach with a couple of little gifts and a hand made card Mason made at school. Mason was really excited to give it to Daddy. He even singed the card himself.  Zach got to sleep in and got served breakfast " just not in bed". Grandpa Rick came over in the afternoon for a BBQ. He got gifts from the boys and a very nice card too. Over all it was a very nice relax afternoon.

May 8,2005 Happy Mother's Day.Today we went to visit Grandma Mickey at Fairhaven Memorial Park.

May 21,2005. As many of you already know, I got in a car accident Saturday morning. I was on my way to a self defence class in Lakeview Terrace. I got lost looking for the self defence class. On  my way back down the winding road, I felt was getting to close the mountain on my right. I tried to conpensate and truned the wheel to the left and that's when I lost control of the car and hit a telephone post. Even though hitting a telephone was very bad, it could have been even worst. There was a 10 foot drop off next to the telephone post. I was very lucky not to go over it.When the car finally stopped, the back wheels were 2 feet from the drop off. The other lucky part of this accident is the fact the I got help right away from a group of off duty Firemen and EMT's that were playing paint ball near by. The area where I was, was so remote that I had no cell coverage and I was not near any public or redicential facilities. God was surely looking out for me that day. I got out of the accident with only a few bruises from the things that actualy saved my life, the seatbelt and the airbag. I am afraid I can't say the same for  my car. I am thankful for not beeing badly hurt and for the fact I was alone in the car and the kids were not with me. Thank You God for loving me.

May 2nd,2005. Today Mason started preschool. We were all excited ,well...Mom was a bit sad to see her baby boy growing-up so fast. Even though he woke up with a runny nose he was ready to go. We had visited the school a few times prior to today, so he knew how much fun it was going to be. Last week we went to get a luch box for him and I made him a little bag to hold all the things the school requested. He had no problem with me leaving him, I was the one with the problem. It just felt to weir to leave him there when I was going to be at home all day. The day went by slow for me and I know it was not the case for him. I called the school a couple of hours later, just to see how he was doing. They said he was having a lot of fun and that he was beeing a good boy. I hope this will get easier for me, since Connor will be next. But not for another 2 years.

4/23/2005 We celebrated Mason's Birthday today at a park close to the house. Some of  his little friends came over and they played all afternoon. They had lots of fun hunting for dinosaurs. We hid some dinosaurs skeletons on the sand and each of the kids had a chance to dig one out and they got to take them home. We also had a little pinata and it was so much fun watching the kids try to break it. It turned out to be a very windy day and a little chilly too,but we were thankful that it didn't rain. Thanks to everybody that came to the party and celebrated with us.

4/20/2005 Happy Birthday Mason!!! Today was Mason's Birthday and even though we are having a little party for him on Saturday, we decided to cut him a little cake and we gave him presents from us. Who doesn't want to spoil their kids just a little bit. He was really excited about all the toys he got. We got him a bubble machine. It's a life saver or should I say a breath saver!!! We'll just have to invest on batteries, but it's well worth it. And since he loves to paint, we also got him some erasable crayons, and squeezable paint a great idea too. Connor gave him  a pair of blue bridges for his train set (His most treasured toy). He had been asking for them since Christmas and he finally got them. He got Dinosaur books and some books from his favorite TV show Miss Spider( A great show for kids, very educational)  He really enjoyed his special day!!!

3/27/2005 Hoppy Easter!! We had fun this Easter, the boys are old enough to understand what is going and they sure had lots of fun. On Saturday we took the boys to church for an Egg-strabaganza. The Church had organized an egg-hunt with games and a huge jumper. I couldn't keep Mason out of that thing. Mason also participated in some of the games they had. I realized what kind of Mother I am when it comes to the kids being involved in activities. I was couching Mason on what to do and I found myself cheering, yelling and pushing him to try harder and harder. I won't be one of those Mom's who stays on the sidelines just watching the kids play.I am going to get down and dirty right along with them. On Sunday, we went to church , came home and we had a big egg-hunt for all the kids, lots of food and tons of candy. We had 15 children all together. It was so much fun for everybody.
