Our motorcycle-themed 3rd birthday for Cannon was a success!!! I don't remember a time when I've seen him so happy. He loved every minute, participated in all the games and activities and was truly excited to see his guests. As I've said before (and advice given from my cousin Emily), there's just something special about the third birthday. They get it. And he appreciated it! I love how my Cannon will just enjoy whatever moment he's in, not thinking about what's next, not wondering if he can open those presents...he just enjoys the moment! And there were lots of wonderful moments...
We were BEYOND blessed to have our dear family and friends here to celebrate with us. Then the Lord so graciously granted AMAZING weather!!! It was just a day that I tried to soak up and take in because to me, it was heaven on earth. You can see the guests, the activities, the food from the pictures, but I just had to try and describe the beauty!
We also enjoyed a brunch on Sunday with those that stayed the evening in Dyersburg. It was nice to have another time to visit before everyone departed for home. Cannon's now officially three and we all had a ball!!
November 6, 2009 -
Happy 3rd Birthday, Cannon!!!!We are so proud to call you ours...your sweet, content nature, happy-go-lucky, affectionate little self has blessed us beyond measure the past three years. We've been talking about this weekend for 2+ months and we are so happy to celebrate YOU! We love you, big boy, and can't wait to see what God has in store for you.
November 2, 2009 - a big Halloween was had by all!! So you can see what our family dressed up as for Halloween 2009... the three little Piggs! (and the Big Bad Wolf & Mommy Pigg) It is just so obvious, I know...we had to do it at some point. So we figured might as well do it while they're still young and somewhat compliant. When they are 16, 14 & 13, they will probably not want to be pigs anymore! And so we had cute, boyish older brother piggs and then our baby pigg (again, because my window is closing on having the cute, sweet plush costume) and Daddy was happily our wolf. Mommy had to participate too, they said, and Connor wanted me to be their Mommy...how original! It was a great weekend, starting with Connor's school party on Thursday & Cannon's on Friday. We didn't figure one pigg on his own was as effective so they pulled out some old stuff for their new school friends. They had a big time and then we went up to the hospital on Friday to hand out treats to the employees there. Coco came Friday afternoon and we enjoyed our family night out with her, followed by some fun Oprah/half-off special Payless shopping! We (Daddy) carved our pumpkin and we had some sweets that night also. On Saturday, I planned three Hallowed-themed meals and Coco & I did some pumpkin crafts with the boys. We headed out for the church fall festival that evening, followed by very fun trick or treating! It was a fun-filled festive weekend for all of us.
Recipe from the Pigg boys...
The older two are really enjoying projects these days. So we fully credit our "High Five" October magazine for their recent snack idea! It was so easy and so perfect for their age/attention spans.
Fruit & Yogurt Pops
1. Chop 1 1/2 cups of desired fruit.

October 22, 2009 - Cord is such a toddler these days...
But he so sweetly and affectionately leans in for your kiss, will often just lay his head on your shoulder and loves to come and just sit alongside of you while watching your favorite show. He's a mess!!!
October 11, 2009 - We are home from our fabulous fall break!! We spent the first day in Clarksville at our niece Ella's 6th Birthday party. The boys were so excited to celebrate at Grandma & Grandpa's house and they gladly obliged in dressing for her Medieval theme. We enjoyed that afternoon with family before we headed to Gallatin. We loved having dinner with our friends, the Simpsons, & I hate that I failed to take pictures that night!! We stayed two nights with Coco & Papa and that was so fun. On Sunday, I got to go with Mom to visit my aunt Kim who is so bravely fighting her cancer battle. (On that note...Please pray for my sweet aunt that she can gain strength and nutrients in these coming weeks ahead. She is now finished with her treatment but we just need to get her strong again)
Monday we headed out early for Water Sound Beach, off of 30-a in the Panhandle of Florida. We visited that stretch of the beach this past July & really enjoyed it, so we thought we'd go again! Our friends, the Carpenters, joined us and we had a wonderful five days. We had beautiful weather and all three boys absolutely LOVED each day in the sand and sun. I was concerned that Cord would either not want to get dirty or eat it, but he really did great! During the day we would start at the beach and play for a few hours. Then we would move to the pool and play and eat lunch. We came in for naps & then enjoyed yummy dinner each night - great seafood - one of our favorite parts about the beach! Our cottage provided a golf cart and that was a great amenity for all of us and our STUFF! On Thursday, my family happily (well, for the most part) humored me in getting professional pictures made on the beach and throughout the little community. I can't wait to see the proofs & really can't wait to get a nice family photo up on our new walls.
We're now home and still have another week of fall break left! Here are some pics from our wonderful vacay... (note: it is not 11 minutes long. this executive producer couldn't figure out how to edit the end timing of the music!)

September 30, 2009 - Several different happenings of recent weeks:
September 4, 2009 - Our first day of soccer for the fall! Cannon came out kicking and did great...not that we doubted him, but he is only 2 years old after all! You see, when I went to get Connor signed up, the lady said, "You want to sign brother up too, right?" I then told her he was two (and the age requirement was three). She said, "Oh, he's big! He'll do fine!" And she was right! He had such a great time and was trying so hard and listening so intently to his coach. He loved it when I would clap and cheer and then he would just pick up the ball and run for the goal...losing sight of the no-hands purpose of soccer. Connor enjoyed watching him too and then he got to meet his coach & teammates. He jumped right in and did all the drills and is ready for the first game...let's just get to the good stuff and score some goals!

August 24, 2009 - Now back into a normal routine, so I just wanted to give you some updates on our kiddos! Cord:

August 18, 2009 - We are in!! After a CRAZY week, we survived and we are home. In our new home. And we couldn't be happier. To recount our recent happenings...Connor started preschool last Monday (with his Daddy taking him) and he loved it from the get-go. He is so confident, so cool and calm about it all, even in a new school with new teachers & friends...it has confirmed in many ways that we made the right decision on waiting a year for Kindergarten. His teacher is so precious and tells me how thoughtful he is or that he expresses concern for the other children. (he then comes home and crashes but at least he's on his best behavior there, right?!) He is in the Frogs class and is so excited about their curriculum each day. Cannon started preschool last Friday and he is in the Bunnies class. Our new preschool has a nice drop-off/pick-up car line that is especially nice when you have multiple children! But on his first day, I asked Cannon if he would like for me to walk him in. "No...I go inside with the teacher and Connor." tears in my eyes..."okay! Have a great day! I love you!!" And off he went with his new LL Bean (matching brother) backpack! They have rolled with it soooooo easily and I am so grateful. So our moving crew packed us on Tuesday, loaded us on Wednesday and delivered on Thursday. When they got here, it was MADNESS!! We still lacked carpet, completed hardwoods, paint in the powder room, plumbing in the powder room, a thorough cleaning, my stove top, kitchen back splash and our master shower door. This house was packed with people but it got done, for the most part! We could not be more pleased with our remodeling efforts and were so excited to show it off to Coco on Friday. She came and stayed through Monday and worked like a dog. She kept us on target, set out our unpacking plan, loved on some grandsons and made it fun (as she has done with all 6 of our moves). It was hard to see her go, but I have comfort in knowing we are still fellow Tennesseans and can still get to each other by a reasonable drive. I posted a few pics of us hanging at the house tonight. Words cannot express how wonderfully simple and "at peace" we feel being a family again. Russell gets up for work, goes about his day, sometimes even comes home for lunch and is just a five-minute drive away! We're doing school, hitting the Y, having dinner at the kitchen table and going for walks through the neighborhood. Thank you, sweet Lord, for simple pleasures and for the joy & blessings you gave me in my family.
August 10, 2009 - So I am still in need of some catch-up on here...and I must do it before our computer is unhooked! We enjoyed a fabulous little get-away (with four of our five) to WaterSound, FL in mid-July. Since it was such a fast trip, Cord stayed with his Coco & Papa and loved his undivided attention that weekend as well! We stopped along the way at our favorite new find in Birmingham, the Renaissance at Ross Bridge. The boys LOVED the pool and the slide and if it weren't for the wedding, we could have made our vacation just start & stop there! We then enjoyed three nights and just two full days on the beach, building sandcastles, digging tunnels, SHARK WATCHING (and I mean lots and I mean close), and playing in the pool. Connor and Cannon became fast friends with the little dudes of our college friends, the Polings, and the four of them had a big time. We got to see our friends, Jason & Leslie, reaffirm their vows and enjoyed some relaxing family time amidst this weird summer schedule we've been having. (and note: I did forget my camera, which I was sick about...so that is the reason for the not-so-good quality disposable camera pics. But at least I did capture, right?!) So then back to reality (or our weird temporary version of reality) of Daddy in Dyersburg and the rest of us here during the week. We have gone over to visit or to make remodeling choices on the new home, but for the most part, just stayed here and stayed busy. The boys have been troopers, I must say. As I mentioned, we have enjoyed lots of "lasts" with our friends, getting to see some of my college girls, my high school BFF MaryAnn & her girls, and more time with our Clarksville friends. I also enjoyed a wonderful 33rd birthday weekend with our family. We enjoyed just being together with our five on Saturday, and that Sunday my father was so hospitable and hosted a slew of our family!! It was a wonderful time and a great chance to hug necks & say goodbye to everyone. And this week is our BIG week! We still have not sold this home and ask for your prayers in doing so. But we also know we can't live like this forever and we are anxious to start our new life in west TN. We closed on our home there three weeks ago and then began some rennovations. "Fixer-uppers" we are not! But it has been so neat to see our choices and our vision come together (made possible by a fantastic crew). We went to visit the boys' preschool last week and you can see they enjoyed their time at the open house. Connor will be going four days a week and started today with his daddy. Cannon will go two days a week and will start on Friday. We are being packed Tuesday, loaded on Wednesday and moved in on Thursday. Connor and Cannon are signed up for soccer and we will jump into our new lives right away!! Thank you to our friends & family for your encouraging words, love and prayers during these past 12 weeks of transition. We are so blessed and look forward to sharing more memories and pictures from our new world!
July 20, 2009 - So I have beyyyyooonnd too much to write about. But let me just say that this summer has been the craziest, strangest one of my life. We are missing Russell so much during the week, but staying so busy. We are enjoying time before we leave with our friends. We are saying our goodbyes, but yet still hanging on. We've vacationed, we've 4th'd, we've doctor visited, we've potty trained and we've tantrumed. Ok...so now you know why I've not been blogging! Let's get caught up... Connor turned FIVE and is so big now. It hits me differently...sometimes it's just another day and then other days, he looks so big and so tall and it hits me...MY BABY'S FIVE! We went for his well check and he weighs 43 lbs. and is 46 1/2 inches tall. He got three shots and I had to hold him down...a tough chore! He passed his hearing and vision tests fine and was developmentally on track with all the questions, activities they performed. Connor is very bright, inquisitive, maybe a little worried sometimes, but mostly just a concerned child! He STILL loves any kind of sports, is fabulous at puzzles, has an amazing memory, and is such a precious child, a joy to us all. So Cannon is potty-trained!!!! Can we get a WOO HOO?! This child is one that has shown no interest when asked before, so we fully expected training around his 3rd birthday. But for whatever reason, on Friday, June 19th, he asked to wear underwear and has never looked back. Sure he's had accidents and we knew our trip might set him back but he's got it! We rewarded him last Friday at his favorite place, "Gucky Cheese." He is also loving to pray lately! We pray all the time and he makes specific requests. He's concerned about Kimmie (after her surgery and throughout her healing process) and he is also praying for "Daddy's new work". He and I had a little stomach bug recently and he was in bed with me. Just as I was silently asking God to comfort his tummy (and I thought he was asleep), he reached over and grabbed my hand and said, "Mommy, let's pray. feel better." Is that not unbelievable?! Don't tell me the Spirit doesn't work in little ones!! Cord...oh my Cord...is CRA.ZY. He is 15 months going on 15. We went for his well check the same day as Connor's and these were his stats:
I've said it before and I'm saying it again...he's beyond his age in gross motor skills. At Gucky Cheese last week, he was insistent on doing all the rides himself and sliding by himself. But please, he's a shrimp! He needs my help! We often disagree on such matters and just when I turned my head for a second, he lunged off the top of the slide. And just yesterday, he fell down the garage stairs. So he's good but he's not that good all the time. If we can only convince him of that! He's already hitting the terrible 2's (which by the way, I don't think are terrible)...he's very vocal, likes to stomp his foot and arch his back! My firecracker of a child for sure. Here's some pics to show you his skills:
So I mentioned we've had lots of going aways. Our playgroup gave us a sweet pizza picnic at our favorite park back in June (pics on the picture page) Our community group had our last meeting and they did a sweet farewell for us too.
My bunko friends/neighborhood girls also threw me a nice ladies' luncheon.
We have loved our Clarksville friends!! We are so blessed for the relationships we've formed these last three years and will miss them all. At least we're not too far for visits in the future. So that's all for this entry...next up -- 4th of July, our beach trip and the update on our move!
June 27, 2009 - Happy Anniversary to my RP!!! When I look back at the past 11 years and think about 6 cities, 6 homes, 3 jobs for me, 6 for you, 5 churches, many friends, and THREE BOYS, I am amazed at where we've been and can't wait for what's still in store. As cliche as it sounds, I truly love you so much more than the day we married at Community Church...you are my best friend and my sweet husband and I when I imagined my life, I never imagined it being this good. God has blessed us immensely and I love you dearly!!!
June 26, 2009 - Happy Birthday to Russell/Daddy! We celebrate you today, even though you don't require or want much spotlight...we are so excited to have you home on your special day too! We love you very much and thank our heavenly Father for giving us such an incredible father for the boys and precious husband to Mommy. Here's to RP! Dinner tonight and a Key Lime Pie await!!
June 22, 2009 - Happy 5th Birthday to our Connor Cline!! What a big boy you are today! Five years ago this evening, you graced us with your presence at the Woman's Hospital of Texas. We left the hospital not having a clue what to do with you...Mommy & Daddy had never even changed a diaper before! But we've figured it out as we've gone along and you are our amazing firstborn son. You are thoughtful, you are incredibly observant, you are compassionate, you are the leader of our boys and we know that you have a beautiful, blessed, bright future ahead of you. We love you so much and celebrate your half-decade birthday today!! Below there is a slideshow from Connor's "under the sea" birthday party. He chose the theme and this Mommy just happily obliged. We were so blessed to share a hot June afternoon with our family and friends, a last hurrah in our Clarksville home.
June 15, 2009 - A FUN & CRAZY SUMMER IS HERE!!! Let me start with Memorial Day...we had a great, relaxing long weekend here at home. Russell had that Friday off as well so it was wonderful to be together, before this new season of life began. We enjoyed a family picnic at my Mimi's house that Sunday and loved seeing the Mississippi Maddux cousins! Russell started in his new role that Tuesday. He had a great first week, meeting everyone and exploring the new hospital. He settled into his new "home away from home" (a.k.a. the extended stay hotel) and of course has now gotten to know the front desk people on a first name basis and can quote to you the various menu items (in order) on the hot continental breakfast. He came home on that Friday afternoon and we enjoyed a good 'ole regular family night dinner at Rafferty's, followed by visiting our friends, the Gambills, at the hospital, upon the arrival of their new baby boy. We hosted that baby boy's big brother on Saturday and later that evening, loved our date night out to PF Chang's with Tab (Russell's sis) and her husband, Jason. We celebrated Tabitha's 30th birthday and so enjoyed getting to have adult conversation without our little ones running around! Grandma and Grandpa were so kind to host all six kids (even overnight!) and it was fun for everyone. Week two of the summer brought about Vacation Bible School for Connor Cline! He seriously looks forward to this week all year long. He inquires about the theme, if I've purchased the t-shirt, if the favorite puppet "Sharky" will be there, and the list goes on and on. (my habitual child loves traditions and loves for annual events to repeat as they've done in years past!) This year did not disappoint, with a western theme focusing on the Parables of Jesus. Every day they learned about a different parable and sang many songs, made crafts, loved the puppet shows and enjoyed a family meal night at the church on Wednesday. We were even walking on our street one night that week and Connor pointed out that we had a rocky area in our yard and grass can't grow in the rocky areas! (reference: Mark 4:16) Week three of our summer was immersed (no pun intended) in swim lessons for Connor. We have done various types of lessons the past four summers: the Y Mommy & Me, the Y semi-private lessons, semi-private at a lady's home, etc. This year I wanted to take it up a level and that we did! We are getting a swimmer in this house! We went every day to a family friend's house where they have had lessons taught there every summer for the past 20+ years. The two ladies are great with the kids and also firm, but Connor loved going and enjoyed the time with his cousin, Maddux. He conquered his fears, jumped off the diving board and went down the slide! We will continue to work on his skills, but he is sure improved from this time last week! Cannon and Cord are such troopers and have just rolled with whatever our days involved. Cannon is truly in full throttle-play mode all the time. He is so good about entertaining himself wherever we may be. His little brother, Cord, thinks he's as big as Cannon and words cannot explain the level of activity this child has entered. He's such a shrimp that on one hand I think he's my baby, but then he's so challenging and so physical that I know he's entered toddlerhood for sure. He climbs stairs proficiently and comes down them on his belly. He propels himself into the dryer and takes a plastic spoon or two with him for fun. We have made two trips back to Dyersburg to house hunt (or to "Daughtersburg" as Connor calls it) and we think we've found the one. Russell is jumping through the paperwork hoops that are involved with the relocation process, but hopefully all the details will fall into place soon. If we get this one, it will require some cosmetic changes and we will try to get everything done before moving. I am not an HGTV-watcher, nor do I claim to have that "before & after" vision...but I am excited about getting in there and "making it our own." (to quote American Idol) And so now it is on to week four of summer...BIRTHDAY WEEK for Connor! We have an "under the sea" party in the works and we'll be sure to post pics from our celebration!
May 25, 2009 - Connor is officially a graduate of his preschool!! We had a precious and sentimental evening last Thursday, as we so proudly watched him wear his cap & gown, sing his songs and walk across the stage to receive his Bible and certificate. His hat was a wee bit big but he wouldn't stop for one minute to adjust it...just kinda wore it on top of his eyes. He was very excited to perform and be with his buddies one last time. There are four of them that have gone all three years together and we sure will miss them next year. Cannon also "performed" (if you want to call standing there and occasionally saying a word without the hand motions a performance!) but he did great. He was mostly concerned about coming to the audience to sit in Coco's lap and check out the man up there in the balcony that was doing the sound and lights. They were very blessed to have a full row of supporters - Grandpa, Mimi, Kimmie, Coco and Papa all came and then we met his cousins for a little snack and fun at Chick-fil-A afterwards.
I also have some new "Connorisms" to share:
We closed another chapter in our lives last week as Russell finished up at his hospital here. They had a nice surprise party (as you can see the pics I posted) and we all had fun surprising him. He is very s-a-d (we spell it around Connor b/c he would then question "Why you sad, Daddy?") to leave that wonderful group of people and that amazing, brand new facility. But he is also excited about what is on the horizon and feels completely ready and prepared to steer his own ship. The house is on the market and we've had a little bit of traffic already, but we do appreciate prayers for the process to be easy and smooth. We feel that God has ordained this new life path for us and so we trust He will make it all fall into place. So it's summer! Time for transition...time for swim, sun & fun!
May 15, 2009 - Mother's Day weekend was SUCH a wonderful one for me! I got to enjoy the whole weekend with my boys, and treated all three days instead of one! My Connor was so precious and sooo into making this a special day. He asked his aunt Tabitha if she would help him bake a cake for me. He asked that I drop him off on Friday and he would not allow me to look inside the box until Sunday. (even though I knew it would sure taste better on that Friday!) He had a long conversation with his daddy on the way to visit Dyersburg that week and he specifically instructed Russell to order flowers. They had to be pink, yellow, purple & red. (the florist omitted the red because it just didn't go, and of course he noticed) They discussed every detail of the weekend and that meant the world to me! On Saturday I enjoyed a mani/pedi and then came home to Russell's amazing meal of a wedge salad, filet, crab cakes & grilled asparagus! YUM!! On Sunday, Coco and Papa came up to join us for church and breakfast at Cracker Barrel. I received beautiful cards and also a gift card to my fav day spa. But most of all, truly...it was just a time for me to think about how blessed I feel to be the mom of those three boys. I think I always knew I wanted to be a mom, but never in my life did I expect such gifts from God as those three. Here are some pics from our weekend:
What a week this has been! Poor Cannon fell last week as we were leaving the Y and hit the metal doorframe head on. It IMMEDIATELY goose-egged and scared me half to death but came down and he came around. Then as last week ended, on into the weekend, I noticed he was not himself, but just attributed it to allergies. His fever got progressively higher, reaching as high as 103.8. After two trips to the doctor and several tests, he was finally diagnosed with pneumonia. It is the sickest I have seen that sweet boy and one night, I hardly slept for just watching him and worrying about his struggle to breathe. Thank the Lord for Rocephin shots and Augmentin...he's on the mend.
Cord is EVERY.WHERE. I love putting his cute little shoes on him and hearing those click.plop.click.plop little sounds as he walks around on the hard woods. I cannot keep him off the stairs. He climbs on the couch with his brothers. He climbs on the coffee table and clears it. He gets in the shower and gets wet. He plays in Houston's food/water bowls. He smashes his fingers in drawers. He LOVES to chew on shoes. You get the picture...he's a MESS!!! I know my other two were monkeys but my goodness is he crazy. He's just doing it so much sooner because he really does want to be just like #1 & #2. He does not like to be put in his car seat and will fight and wriggle and manages to get out of his buckle in the stroller. A CUTE MESS for sure!
