Well... it has been a long time since I have updated you! I have been on the move so much that I haven't taken the time to tell you what's new.
Well I will start by saying.. 1 is soooo much FUN!! I turned 1 last week and I got to celebrate with family and friends all week long..ending with a flower themed Birthday party!!
Gigi, Papa & Uncle T came to visit and one day we went to the aquarium and checked out all the fishies!! I loved it!! We also got to spend time with my Mimi, Grandpa & Aunt Yaya. It is so wonderful to have family together!!
My Birthday party was a blast!! I had 5 little buddies and lots of Mommy and Daddy's friends and family there!! We jumped (rolled) in a jumper, swam in the pool, decorated flower shaped cookies, and had lots of yummy cake!! I was quite dainty with my smash cake...but I really enjoyed it!!!
I was sad to see my Michigan family leave...but was so thankful they could make the trip!!
Yesterday I went to my 1 year checkup and I am as healthy as we suspected!! I now weigh 20 lbs, 9 oz (25th%) and I am 30.8 inches tall (90th%). I am now drinking organic whole milk out of a sippy cup and i love it!!! I have also graduated on to "adult" food only, except for my Yobaby yougart, & I will pretty much eat anything!! I am a good little eater!! I can pull up onto everything, cruise on furniture and push my walky toy..fast!! I am not yet walking by myself, though!! I have become very interested in stairs...doesn't seem to be quite as exciting to Mommy.
Mommy and Daddy are pretty sure I know what they are saying almost all the time. It is so much fun to be able to let them know what I want. I point and wave at everything and everyone..I am very friendly!! I can do a few words signing...and I am a champ at blowing kisses..MOOAAH!

I am 5 months old today!! I can't believe how fast time has gone by and how much I have grown! I am very tall and I love to stand up and show off my height!! (I love my jumper my Uncle William and Lindsey gave me because it lets me stand and "dance" on my feet...I haven't mastered the jumping part quite yet) I am a master at flipping over onto my belly...but I can't seem to remember how to get back onto my back. Because I end up on my belly so much, I think I might be crawling in a few months..I am pretty interested in it! I am also (still) an awesome sleeper at night (at least 11 hours), but my naps are short and sweet. (I think Mommy wants me to switch to 2 longer ones...but I enjoy my 3-4 half hour ones!...I seem to always win!)
I have started to eat 2 meals a day (rice cereal/ oatmeal/ and I just tried pears) along with Mommy's milk! I LOVE anything you want to put in my mouth....I'm not picky! I also am trying a tiny bit of water out of a trainer sippy cup...it is cold..but very FUN! At lunch the other day with Mimi, Grampy, and Aunt Yaya, I tried some water out of a glass! I loved it and that is all I wanted to do..very exciting!
I am such a HAPPY, SMILEY baby!!! Mommy picked out my Halloween costume because it said "Bee Happy" on the hoodie...which she said was "perfect"! I really don't mind wearing it at all & I am very excited for Halloween!!
Speaking of which, Grampy, Mimi, Aunt Yaya, and Mommy & Daddy took me to Burt's Pumpkin Patch and I got to pick out my very own pumpkin! I also got to wear my Bumble Bee costume and take A LOT of fun family fall pictures! (The women in this family LOVE pictures) I had such a great day!! Now that I have my pumpkin, Daddy gets to carve it for me while I get to test out the inside and feel the goo!! (I am sure there will be pictures of that..so check back soon to see)
In the last month I have had a lot of fun experiences and a lot of giggles!! A few things that I love:
1)Mommy & Daddy (I have started to have a little bit of seperation anxiety already)
2)Seeing Mimi, Grampy, and Yaya...I have really been smiling BIG for them!
3)kisses & tickles on my belly and cheekers!
4)Hearing Gigi's voice on the phone (I kick and smile a ton!)
5)Hanging out in the Baby Bjoir
6)The outdoors!
7)All my toys (I act like I have never seen them before...everytime!)
8)Music and Dancing!
9)Talking, singing, and touching faces/hands/necklaces (pretty much touching everything!)
10)Eating out of a spoon (I always say..."MMMmmmm" after each bite)
11)Showing off how fast I can turn over...and trying to sit up (when I do, I have great posture)
12)I also like to sit in my Bumbo and watch Mommy & Daddy cook in the kitchen!
Well, that's all I can come up with right now...
I am hoping that my Papa, Gigi, & Uncles can come visit for Thanksgiving! I miss them very much!! (Mommy does, too!)
I hope you are all enjoying the fall weather...I know I am!!!!!!!!!!!
It takes me so long to type (because my fingers are so tiny)...thus the reason for not updating everyone as frequently as Mommy would like. :)
I am now 4 months old on Saturday and next week I go in for my 4month check-up...so we will see how much I have grown and gained! ( I am still wearing a lot of 3month old dresses, but anything with pants I have to get bigger because of my long legs!!) My hair is really falling out...and Mommy seems to have a complex about it...she really likes hair or something. :) (but I still have enough for a bow...so that's all good!) Mommy says with hair or with none...I'm still the most beautiful thing she has ever laid her eyes on!!!
The last three nights I have slept from 8:30pm to 7:00am!! Mommy seems REALLY excited about that!! I'm getting to be a big girl!! I can hold my head up like a champ and I am able to sit in my bumbo all by myself!! I am starting to pick up toys and put anything and everything in my mouth! I LOVE to sing and I'm a big talker! My new favorite song..that ALWAYS puts a smile on my face is "Jesus loves me". I turned from my back to my stomach last week (16 weeks old) which Mommy keeps saying is very advanced. (But, between you and me, even if I don't start walking or talking until I am 5 yrs old...she would still say that!)
Here are some adventures and new experiences I have tried this summer:
1) I went on my first plane ride at 11 1/2 weeks old to visit my Gigi and Papa and to meet my 3 Uncles (Tommy, Trav, and William). While I was there I met half of my Great Aunts and Uncles and quite a few of Mommy's cousins!! (She says there are still more were that came from!) I also got to go to Binder Park Zoo were I got big kisses from a Garraffe..which is now my new favorite animal! I met a few of Mommy's bestfriends from Marshall and their little ones (which I am looking forward to playing with once I'm a little bigger) I did wonderfully on the plane rides..never let out a peep!! I already MISS everyone so much and am already talking about my next visit to Michigan!!
2) I stopped sleeping in my swaddle at 13 1/2 weeks old. I love my little zip-up sleeper! It allows me to stay warm and still wiggle my way to the other end of the bed by morning!
3) I have had the chance to meet a lot of fun friends here in Atlanta and I am already invited to attend another Birthday Party (this will be my 3rd that I've been to!!)
4) I have also met 3 Great Aunts and Uncles from my Daddy's side of the family! (Oh...and his cousin Christiaan) I love them all so much...they seem to really like me! :) Daddy's Grandpa and Grammy and Aunt Jill came to visit a week ago and I was showered with hugs and kisses all week! I went for my first dip in the pool while they were visiting!! I love water and I think next summer I am going to be a lot of fun at Mimi's and Grandpa's lake house! I also get to be babysat by them and Aunt Yaya a lot and I LOVE going to there place and sitting outside on their porch..rocking!! It is so nice to have them so close!!!!!
I really love looking and focusing at people in the eyes!! I notice everything...expecially my Mommy and Daddy! They are my best buds!! I guess my next big adventure is going to the orchard this fall in my Halloween costume. (Which seems to be the big task...finding the perfect costume...I am sure when it is found you'll be the first to see me in it!!)
Ok..well I am off to have a chat with Mommy....maybe read a book and do some "standing" with Mommy's help! (I LOVE to stand!!! It makes me feel like a big girl!!)

Well.. it has been a while since I have updated you all on my life! I am really enjoying myself here! I love my family so much and I get to spend a lot of time with Mommy and Daddy! I also get to visit my Grandpa, Mimi, and Aunt Tiffany a bunch!! They are really great!! They have these BIG doggies who are dieing to give me kisses..but haven't been given the chance yet! Mommy also told me that my Gigi is coming to visit to celebrate my first 4th of July with me!! I can't wait to see her again...I've been missing her (and Papa) like crazy!!
I have done a lot of firsts!! I have been up to the lake a couple of times. I have gone to get tags for Daddy's car. I have been to the grocery store with both Mommy and Daddy (Mommy says she is a little nervous to try it on her own yet). I have been to the bank and I have been to my first party! Daddy's friend had a surprise birthday party and I was invited! I have done really well! I love to get out of the house and I am also enjoying walks in my stroller a lot more!! The other day it was low humidity outside, so Mommy met up with her friend, Leah, and her son, Gabe, and we all went for a 4mile stroll! Gabe and I loved it!!
Mommy took me to the Doctor yesterday for my 5 week check up (I am 5 weeks old today!!) and I found out all my measurements! I am now 9lbs 6.5oz, but I am still pretty lean because I am so long! I have grown 2 inches!! I am now 23 1/8 inches long...which is the 97 percentile for my age!! My head is now 2cm bigger and they didn't measure my hands and feet, but I think they have grown, too!! I am a very happy baby and I love to be nursed by Mommy! I am starting to let Mommy know how much I love it..because when I am eating..I'll take litte breaks to tell her how happy I am. (I think it is the beginging stages of cooing)
Yesterday I also SMILED for the first time!! Mommy was changing my diaper (i love the changing table) and she was talking to me like crazy so I finally gave her a little reaction..a smile! I think I might start doing that more often..she seemed to REALLY enjoy it!! :)
Daddy is always trying to see how strong I am ...(I think he wants me to drive Mommy crazy and learn how to crawl way too early) He is always doing little excersizes with me on my belly and pulling me up on my feet! As soon as I can hold my neck up, I am going to try to use the jumper that Uncle William and Lindsey got me!!
Oh...I almost forgot to tell you what a great sleeper I am!! I went the other night 9 hours from feeding to feeding and then last night I went 8 hours! Not bad for a barely 5 week old!! I really am an AMAZING baby!! And I am loved so much...so I think that makes me even more resistable!!
It's me, Tyla Love, finally getting the chance to write to everyone who loves me so much and to update you on how I arrived! I was born on my due date, May 20th, at 9:54pm! My Daddy was so proud that I was "on time"...just like a true Tharp! :)
Mommy and Daddy had gone in for their 40 week check up and because Mommy had been lightly contracting through the night, they brought their packed bags in the car...just in case! To there surprise.. Mommy was 4 cm dialated and they were sent to the hospital around 1:30pm to deliver me! Mommy's delivery went amazingly well...and fast!! She dialated 5-10cm in 2 hours and after only 15 min. of pushing I was born into a world of love!!
I was greated with so much love and kisses from my Mommy, Daddy, Gigi, Mimi, and Auntie Tiffany! A few minutes later I got to meet my Papa Dopp and Grandpa Tharp! It was a perfect way to be born and I just love my family so much!!
At Northside Hospital they rate the health of each baby, 1 being the worst and 10 the healthiest. Daddy is proud to say that I was a "10"! Even one of the nurses said she had been working there 4 yrs and had never seen a 10! Mommy and Daddy feel so blessed and thankful for how healthy and beautiful I am... (at least that is what they tell me all the time!)
I was born a lot bigger than everyone expected! I weighed in at 8lbs 15.2ounces and 21 inches long! Even Mommy's midwife was sure I couldn't have weighed over 7lbs! I guess I hid well in Mommy's belly...but was I ready to come out!! Even though I weighed almost 9 pounds I don't have anything chunky on me except my cheeks! (I look like I am storing up for a cold winter). The rest of me is long and lean. Mommy says I have elegant long fingers and toes and I'm "all girl!" I was born with lots of light brown hair (enough for a little pink bow when I'm feeling up for it) and soft pink skin! I have had no complication (like jaundice) except that I lost a little bit of weight after I was born and I have had to take a few trips to the Pediatrician to get weighed in and to make sure I am gaining! (Now that Mommy's milk has come in I think my favorite thing to do is eat...so i shouldn't have any problems trying to keep up with that mission!)
My Papa Dopp went back to Mommy's hometown in Michigan on Sunday and then Gigi followed him on Wednesday. I am already missing them like crazy and I can't wait for them to visit again soon! I am also looking forward to meeting my 3 uncles, Uncle Tommy, Uncle T, and Uncle William! I hope I can head up north at the end of the summer to see them all, too! I am so thankful that my Grandpa, Mimi, and Auntie Tiffany are here and are able to visit often!! I am never lacking in love and kisses!
Mommy and Daddy had a nurse come over yesterday from "Mom's on Call" and she helped them get on a schedule! They found out I wasn't getting enough sleep time and I was just plain exhausted! (Which meant Mommy and Daddy were also!!) Now I am basically eating, playing for a bit, then off to sleep for a couple hours! I seem to be much happier!! Mommy and Daddy had no idea how much sleep babies need in order to grow! So be watching for me to get bigger and bigger!!!
Since I have been home from the hospital I have been to the Pediatrician 3 times. I had a quick visit to Babies R Us, once. I also have been on 3 walks with my family! I love the outdoors and love listening to the birdies! I also love music!! Daddy made some great cd mixes for Mommy's labor and now we listen to them at home and in the car all the time! I love to dance with Mommy to music whenever I might get fussy! I also love tummy time with Daddy! Oh, and my new favorite thing is a nice tight swaddle during naps and not just for bedtime! I am a big fan of white noise while I sleep! I am a very happy baby and I make a lot of fun faces and I love to stretch...when I am not in my swaddle :)
Life is pretty good here with Mommy and Daddy and I think I am really going to love life being Miss Tyla Love Tharp!
