7-25-09 Tyler had his first overnight! He spent the night with oma and opa while Ray and I attended a wedding. It sounds like he had lots and lots of fun with his grandparents. Ray and I had a nice night out and even slept in until 8am! I did miss my little monkey and it melted my heart to see how excited he got when we picked him up. Tyler will be having his second sleep over next weekend when we attend another friends wedding (on my 30th birthday)!

7-20-09 As many of you know Ray and I use cloth diapers with Tyler. I have probably already talked your ear off a ton about how marvelous cloth is so I won't bore you with that in this post. However, one of the more challenging things for me in regards to cloth diapering has been finding a good detergent to use. Well, I am hoping that I may have found my answer. The natural baby company has come out with Tiny Bubbles. Here is a little bit about how fabulous Tiny Bubbles is sure to be... - Dye & Fragrance Free - Completely Biodegradable - Completely Phosphate-Free - No Optical Brighteners or Fillers - Gentle for Sensitive Skin - Low Residue Formula - Ultra-Concentrated - Low Cost-Per-Wash - Recyclable - Safe to use with Gro Baby? and all other cloth diapers brands. Not tested on animals. No animal by products. ($0.22 per Load) Phosphate Free - Phosphate detergents are a major cause of pollution in our lakes and streams. Even biodegradable phosphate detergents are harmful to water life. Tiny Bubbles contains no phosphates and is completely biodegradable. I am dying to get my hands on some to try it! Check out the Natural Baby company website for more details. http://www.thenaturalbabyco.com/tiny-bubbles-p-732.html

7-4-09 Today is Tyler's 2nd Fourth of July! I can't believe that this time last year he was only a week old. He slept through the entire parade passing right by our house. This year is was nearly impossible to contain him. He loved watching the trucks (vroom vroom) in the parade and loved all the bands. He is quite the little dancer and will "shake it" whenever he hears a song. I imagine that the 4th of July will only get more fun each year!

7-1-09 Well, it has been quite a year! Tyler is now 1!! He is quite the little mover and shaker. He began walking around 11 months and is quite good. Although, sometimes his little legs can't quite move as fast as he would like and he takes a tumble. He has a pretty good vocabulary and can say: mama, dada, no, ball, hi, up, book, doh (dog), cheese, and a few others that have slipped my mind at this moment. I love being home with him over summer break. I wish the weather would cooperate this summer so we could head to the pool more often. Having a toddler is a ton of fun and exhausting! His giggle and smile just melt my heart

6-27-09 I can't believe my little man is 1 year old today! We are looking forward to his monkey themed birthday party. I made the cutest little monkey cupcakes and can't wait for guests to see them. I have had so much fun planning and am already beginning to plan his 2nd birthday party!

9-19-08 Tyler is 12 weeks old! I can't believe how fast he is growing and how active he has become. This past week we began going to baby story time at the library. There were about 20 kids there from about 6 weeks - 2 years. Tyler really seemed to like the songs and watching the other babies play. He began using his bebe pod (infant positioning seat) this week and really seems to like to sit up and look around. I am able to get a ton done while he hangs out in his seat and watches me. He continues to sleep really well and through the night. Soon we will be moving him out of the bassinet in our bedroom and into his own room. I'm sure he will make the transition just fine...it's me who will have the hard time!

9-14-08 Tyler rolled over from his tummy to his back! He did it four times in a row so I'm not sure if it's a fluke or really a new skill. I'm sure he'll be on the move soon!

8-31-08 We took Tyler to the pool today. We went with some friends and their two kids. We took Tyler into the baby pool but he wasn't crazy about it...too cold! So we spent the rest of the day sitting in the shade with him while he slept. We'll keep trying, I'm sure one day he will love the water! Tyler is smiling all the time at us and the animal friends on his crib bumper! He is also giggling, babbling, lifting his head and chest off the ground, and blowing bubbles. The doctor said he thinks Tyler will roll over soon! He also absolutely loves looking at himself in mirrors!

8-28-08 Tyler's two month doctor appointment today. He currently weighs 10 pounds and 13 ounces and is 22 1/2 inches long! He had to get his vaccinations today and I am so glad Ray was with me. I couldn't watch so Ray held Tyler' little hand. Two nurses came into give him his shots (he needed three). One nurse held one leg and the other nurse held the other and they counted to three and then gave him the shots and the same time. One nurse followed up with the third shot. At first Tyler had a stunned look on his face and then his face turned bright red and looked like he was screaming but no noise was coming out...if that makes sense. All of a sudden he was screaming...but he is a tough little boy and he didn't cry for long.

8-14-08 Tyler went with mommy to work today to get some things ready for my maternity leave sub. I will be home with him until November 24th. I am so glad I am able to spend his first 5 months at home with him. I wish it could be longer! We also went to visit daddy at his new job at the firehouse. Tyler slept through most of the tour of the house and the engines.

8-5-08 Tyler is beginning to smile! These are his social smiles...not the gas kind! It is so wonderful to see!

8-1-08 Tonight we left Tyler with a babysitter for the first time. The babysitter was his Oma and Opa (grandma and grandpa) Wolff! Ray and I went to dinner for my birthday and then met some friends out. We did stop by to feed and check in on Tyler in between dinner and the bar. He did great and Ray and I survived too!

7-7-08 Tyler's umbilical cord fell off this morning! He also gave us another pretty good nights sleep. He is already on a pretty good feeding schedule and can go a full five hours at night! I wonder if he would go longer but we do wake him up after 5 hours to eat if he doesn't wake up on his own. He has already been out on lots of trips (mall, friend's house, shopping, walks, oma and opa's, doctor, blockbuster). He has been more alert and awake the last two days and continues to seem very content. He has been feeding well and is gaining weight nicely. His birth weight was 7 -14, was 7 - 9 when discharged from hospital, 7-1 at first doc appt. and 7 -11 and second doc appt! Tyler celebrated his first 4th of July with lots of company at the house to watch the parade. Amazingly, it seems like Tyler can sleep through anything! He slept through the band, fire trucks, and all the noise of the parade! I had Tyler by myself this morning for a few hours while Ray went running with a friend...Tyler and I both survived!

7-2-08 Tyler has arrived! He was born on 6-27-08 at 9:44 PM. Tyler's birth story - I was induced on Tyler's due date at exactly 40 weeks. We decided on induction because my cervix was starting to change indicating that I was ready and we wanted to avoid aged placenta. We arrived at the hospital a little before 7am (this is after stopping at Dunkin Donuts so Ray could get breakfast). The labor and delivery unit was very busy that morning so we had to wait for a room to open up. Once a room was open I got into a gown, was checked, and got started on the pitocin (the medication that starts labor). Shortly after the doctor came in to break my bag of waters. This was actually more painful than it usually should be but the baby was still very high so the doctor had a difficult time getting to the bag. Every so often the nurse would increase the pitocin in order to make the contractions stronger. The doctor would come into check every hour but I was not making much progress. She said that I have a VERY narrow pelvis and she didn't think I would be able to deliver the baby naturally and that is why I wasn't making much progress. We decided to wait an hour and see how things were going. During that time Tyler's heart rate dropped a few times during the contractions. However, the nurse was able to correct it by having me lay flat on my left side with an oxygen mask. At some point after 2:00 I asked for the epidural. Which was fantastic!!! Tyler's heart rate continued to drop with contractions so the doctor put in an internal monitor which attached to Tyler's head and it would measure both his heart rate and the intensity and frequency of my contractions more accurately. Since Tyler's heart rate kept dropping they often had to turn the pitocin off so that he could recover and have a little break. However, every time they turned off the pitocin my contractions would stop. So they basically had to start and stop my labor a number of times. On top of that my epidural wore off a few times...but only on my right side! So the anesthesiologist had to come back twice to give me more meds. Since Tyler wasn't tolerating the contractions well I had to lay flat on my left side with the oxygen mask for the entire labor process! All I had to stare at was the heart rate monitor which of course just increased my anxiety. At about 9:30pm Ray and I noticed that Tyler's heart rate had dropped again but lower than it had any time previously. All of a sudden three nurses came in the room and began moving me from side to side and even moved the bed so it was almost totally upright and when that didn't work they moved it so i was upside down! Nothing worked and when his heart rate didn't return to normal after 10 minutes it was time to get me ready for a c-section because Tyler couldn't wait any longer. Ray went to go tell our parents and the nurses began flying around getting me ready. All I could do was lay there and listen to his dangerously slow heart rhythm. I was taken to the OR and Ray had to wait outside. At this point things become blurry. I know that his heart rate dropped lower in the operating room because I could hear the doctor ask if I was still having contractions (I was still on the monitor) and when the nurse said no the doc told someone to call the NICU staff down and that they needed to move quickly. I got more meds and all of a sudden I could no longer feel anything in my body from the neck down...not even my arms or hands. They were moving so fast I thought they were going to forget to bring Ray into the room. I asked them to get Ray and a minute or so they called him in but at that point the doc had already started cutting me open. Tyler was born at 9:44 pm. The doctor held him over the curtain and he was screaming. Such a wonderful noise. They let me kiss him before they took him to the nursery (Ray went with). I couldn't stop shivering which the anesthesiologist said was because of the medication. The wheeled me o the OR recovery room where I was able to see and hold Tyler. We are all doing great and have been home for a couple days. Tyler had a difficult time sleeping the first two nights at home and was 'cluster feeding' which means he would eat at consecutive sessions...meaning ALL NIGHT LONG! We have been working on him eating more during the day and last night he let us sleep for 2 hours at a time! So far he is a very happy and content baby.

6-25-08 Today's doctor appointment went well. The doc has decided to induce me this friday the 27th (which happens to be the baby's actual due date). He said that there is a higher risk of aged placenta issues with IVF pregnancies. Aged placenta means that the placenta's functioning declines. So it looks like unless this baby surprises us and comes between now and tomorrow we are looking at friday for delivery day! Funny thing is that we have only have two more nights to enjoy before we are parents and what is Ray doing at 9:17pm...SLEEPING!

6-20-08 Todays doctor appointment went well. I am currently 39 weeks and 1 centimeter dilated and 50% effaced (fully dilated is 10 centimeters and fully effaced is 100%). Hopefully I will continue to make progress and the baby will decide to come soon! The baby still does not like to cooperate for the non stress test. The nurse keeps telling us that she thinks this baby can sleep through anything. Wouldn't that be nice if that's the truth...hopefully she is not jinxing us! I am getting a little restless being home and not having much to do. Ray graduated the fire academy today. He will begin the fire department on Monday, provided that the baby does not arrive earlier.

6-14-08 I had another doctors appointment today. Everything went well, not much to report. It looks like we're just waiting for this little booger to make its appearance. Ray is busy with finishing up the fire academy and I have just been taking care of cleaning and organizing things around the house. We are beginning to grow impatient and very anxious to meet this little one!

6-8-08 My doctors appointment this week went well. I had the non fetal stress test again and the baby does not like to cooperate for this test. The baby was constantly moving away from the monitor and prefers to try to sleep through the test. I have a feeling he or she will be just as stubborn as Raymond! There are less than 20 days left until our due date! I wonder when this little one will make its debut. Ray graduates from the fire academy on June 20th, so he is hoping the baby waits until after then to arrive. Tomorrow is my last day of school for the year...and until the end of November!

5-28-08 Another doctors appointment today that went pretty well. There is no dilation or effacement yet and the baby has stayed in a head down position. I even got a bonus ultrasound while I was there. The doc wanted to make sure I had an adequate amount of amniotic fluid...which I do. The ultrasound estimated the baby to be currently weighing in at 5 pounds 14 ounces and showed that the baby has a fair amount of hair! I am not going to post any of the most current ultrasound pictures since they aren't very clear due to how cramped the baby currently is. I also had a fetal non stress test which measures the baby's heart rate and movement for a period of 20-30 minutes as well as any contractions I may be having. The baby was being a bit stubborn and not wanting to move a lot so the nurse had to wake the baby up with juice and noise. It didn't work as well as they had planned but the doc was satisfied with the results they did have. I will continue to have the non stress tests at every appointment from now until delivery. Yesterday Ray and I realized that the baby will be here in 5 weeks at the latest (since they will only let me go 1 week past due date)...but could be here earlier! As of today there are 30 days until the due date!

5-21-08 We had a doctors appointment last week that went fairly well. I was told that I have to take it a bit easier when working out because I have been having contractions for a couple of hours after I leave the gym. I can still exercise, I just need to "take it down a notch". This past Sunday Ray's mom hosted a shower with help from some family friends. Both Ray and I really had a lot of fun. I can't imagine that there is anything else we need before the baby's arrival. We are blessed with such generous family and friends! I had another doctors appointment today. My blood pressure was pretty high again at this appointment but came down after about a half hour of resting. The doctor said that the baby has already descended pretty low in the pelvis and is already in a great position just waiting for delivery day! Not much longer now!
