02/12/10 - Jesse finally decided that walking was ok.  He has been cruising for monthes and walks on his knees all the time but after practicing all week he finally decided to take some real steps on his own.  Woohoo.  He is really proud of himself about it too.

1/8/10 - Jesse's vocabulary is expanding.  Last night he learned how to say the word Yes.  He seemed quite pleased with himself.  He has also learned "Santa" and recognizes him on everything, albeit about two weeks late :-)  He says "No" occasioanly but ony "No nigh nigh"  not by itself.

We are also amazed at how well he does associating items. Tuesday I had on a shirt with a buffalo.   We had to go around the house so he could point out all of the stuffed buffalo.  Then last night we were watching a show about Yellowstone and they showed buffalo.  Jesse immediately pointed to the tv and then over at my shirt.

He is also going through a Mickey Mouse phase.  I think Brian and I both have the theme of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the Hot Dog Song memorized at this point.

1/2/10 - We just found out that thanks to the JVC Holiday Sweepstakes Jesse's picture was on the JVC screen in Times Square between 12:30 and 1pm on New Years Eve.  Pretty neat.

12/30/09 - We survived Jesse's 15 month checkup.  He was really not happy.  He started crying when the nurse measured him and then it just got worse when the doctor came in.  He only had to have 2 shots this time.  He is now 30 1/2" inches long and weighs approx 20 lbs 12 oz.  He was squirming so much it was hard to tell.  His head circumfrance is 50 cm.   He has quite a few teeth.  He has 8 on the bottom and 5 on the top with another 5 partially in.  The doctor thought he looked healthy and was impressed that Jesse loves Japanese food.  )His favorite being miso soup and sushi.)  The doctor said he really wasn't pushing the H1N1 shot so we decided not to get it since Jesse was already really not happy.

12/21/09 - We let Jesse open 2 Christmas presents tonight just so he wasn't quite so overwhelmed on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.  He is quite fond of Mickey Mouse right now so he got a p;ush Mickey from the Disney store and Scout the Leapfrog Dog.

12/17/09 12/18/09- Jesse came down with a 24 hour flu bug.  Poor thing was miserable all night.  Hopefully he gets better before Christmas.

12/08/09 - We found out that Jesse is allergic to shrimp. Luckily it wasn't a big reaction and the benadryl was close by.

12/05/09 - We went to the Creation Museum in Cincinnati today with Nana, Papaw, Aunt Heather, and Uncle Jason.  It was way to cold to see the gardens but Jesse was facinated with the dinosaurs.  We also got to go to Jungle Jim's.  The most entertaining grocery store you will ever see.  (http://www.junglejims.com/)  If you have never been there is is worth the trip.

12/04/09 - Jesse's milk allergy has continued.  He does fine on soy milk so we will stick with that.  When he drinks milk he is miserable the next night and for the next 48 hours.  He seems to be ok eating cheese or yogurt in small amounts.

10/31/09 - Jesse is a lion for Halloween this year.  He has a pretty cute lion roar.  I can't believe how different he looks from last year.  His outfit last year was a newborn and it was way to big and falling off of him.  This year his lion costume was a 12-24 month.  Hurray.

10/26/09 - Jesse has a stomach virus.  We took him to the ped and they told us just to treat the symptoms and let them know if he gets any worse.

10/17/09 - 10/21/09 - We took a trip to Gatlinburg just to get away for a few days.  I'm not sure if Jesse liked the Aquarium the best or the bluegrass music over in the Elks Plaza.

9/28/09 - Jesse had his 1 year appointment.  He really wasn't happy with the visit.  Poor thing had to have 4 shots.  He is doing well and is in the 10th percentile for weight and the 45th percentile for height.  The doctor said he is doing well and even though he is a little thin he is not underweight.  He goes back in a month for the 2nd part of the flu shot but his next real appointment is December 30th.

9/27/09 - Jesse has 2 more top teeth coming in.  Today was Birthday Party day - Pictures - Jesse was a bit overwhelmed with the festivities but had a good time most of the day.  He wasn't to sure what to do with all of the presents but he was intrigued once they were unwrapped.

9/26/09 - Happy Birthday Jesse!  it is really hard to believe that a year has gone by already.  Today was also the Sustainable Living Fair in Columbus.  Jesse got to hear Bobbie Lancaster perform and got the opportunity to sit in a winning solar race car from the Purdue Solar Racing Team.  That was really neat.  He was the hit of the fair of course.

9/3/09 - It is hard to believe that Jesse is almost a year old.  We are planning his first birthday party.  Time sure does fly.  He is teething again.  This week has been a bit rough for him.

8/6/09 - Jesse is starting to feel a little better.  He is still pretty miserable.   Good news, we won a Sweet Pea3 Mp3 player for him from the blog Go Graham Go (http://www.gograhamgo.com/).  How fun.  Since he loves music so much we thought this was something that could come in handy.   Sweet Pea3 Player - http://www.sweetpeatoyco.com/

8/5/09 - Poor Jesse.  Monday night he started sneezing and then yesterday had the watery eyes and runny nose.  Last night he was pulling at his ear and crying most of the night.  We took him to the walk in hours at the pediatrician this morning and he has a head cold and an ear infection.  Poor kid is really miserable.  He is on amoxicillin and tylenol and we are running the humidifier for him.  Hopefully this will pass quickly.

07/30/09 - Jesse got to meet his other Great Grandma today.   We went over to Brazil so she would get a chance to see him in person.  He didn't care of the long drive to much but luckily he slept part of the way.

Another growth spurt.  We had to try 3 rompers before we found one that would fit today.  The funny thing is the first one he wore last week fine.  I was sad that he outgrew the really cute frog one and we never got any pictures of him wearing it.  So it looks like most of the 6-9 month stuff is to short now.  We were getting him ready for bed and he has outgrown most of his pj's.  He was wearing 12 month ones last night, and those even looked a little short.  Thank goodness they didn't have feet in them.

Greetings Mom, Dad, and Jesse! I have been visiting your website and following the progress of Jesse with much delight since the time of his birth. It is amazing to see how he has grown in these months! Mom & Dad - you have done a great job feeding and nurturing him, from that little tiny newborn to a real-sized kid, getting ready to crawl and probably walking soon, too! Ya done good!!!

I just saw the link to your youtube videos and enjoyed them! I really got a kick out of the one with the door stop - a little girl named Michelle Host used to do the same thing, many moons ago!

Blessings on all of you as you travel the road of family life and a growing boy... enjoy each and every day, as they pass much too quickly.

07/28/09 - We had our pictures taken for the church directory today.  They couldn't get Jesse to smile for any of the pictures.  Of course he smiled at all the women in tha hall and he was all smiles when he noticed that the family that came in after us had a little blond girl.  He is definitely a ladies man.

7/26/09 - Wow, Jesse is 10 months old.  I can't believe it has been that long already.  He is growing up so fast.   He has figured out the shape sorter and likes to spend time putting the shapes in, dumping them out, then putting them in again.  He really likes riding on his rocking-bouncy horse.   ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_YSC3ieLVo) He is still very music oriented.  He loves playing with the keyboard, the drum, and anything else he can make a noise with.  It is really cute to watch him sing into the microphone.

07/17/09 - We went to White River Gardens and the Indianapolis Zoo today.  Jesse liked the butterflies at the gardens.  One of the large blue ones landed on his shoulder and he thought it was great.  At the zoo we spent most of the time watching the sharks and the penguins.  Jesse really didn't seem to care about the other animals.   We will have to take him back again some day and see if he still likes the sharks the best.

07/14/09 - Jesse loved the fair. There were tons of people he could smile at. He wasn't so sure about the cows but liked the sheep. Of course he also decided that fair food was good too, not sure if he like the corn dog, ribeye, or funnel cake better. Since he didn't go to sleep until almost 1 maybe the funnel cake was a bad idea.

07/13/09 - The teeth are really starting to come in.  Poor Jesse, 4 teeth at once.  His lower incisors are coming in as well as his 2 front top teeth.

07/05/09 - Jesse is doing well and seems to be back to normal after the procedure on Thursday.  Today he figured out he could pull himself up in the crib and see over the rail when he was on his knees so we decided it was time to lower the mattress.  We did that and he is still able to pull himself up to a standing position and reach over the side.

When he was playing earlier we were reminded of a Dilbert video.  Video  Should we be worried that he has the mind of an engineer?

We went out to dinner at 8 China and Jesse had a good time.  He really liked the rice and he had some chicken and a piece of almond cookie.  So far the only food that he doesn't like is peas.  He won't even eat something with peas in it.  Maybe we will try a whole pea and see if he likes it better if he can pick it up himself.  :)

07/02/09 - Jesse did really well this morning.  He liked all the attention from the nurses.  The procedure only took about 10-15 minutes once he was out.  He woke up pretty quickly and stole the hearts of the nurses in the recovery room.  The doctor said the did clear quite a bit of stuff out of the tear duct.  He has ointment to put on twice a day and we go back for a followup in a week.  Jesse is doing well, he has had apple juice and  a bottle of formula.  He has been a bit fussy so he has some tylenol and is taking a nap.

Thank you for all the prayers.

06/29/09 - Jesse had his appointment with the eye doctor.  We had no idea it would be so fast but they had a cancellation so there was an opening.  It is Dr Wilson here in town.  We liked him and a bunch of people here at the library speak well of him.  He seems great with kids, pretty quiet and calm.  He suggested doing the procedure to unclog the right tear duct.  He said if it lasts more that 6 months they want to get it unclogged so the reoccurring blockageinfection doesn't cause any damage.  The longer we wait the more chance of scar tissue developing or a worse infection.  That is the same thing that the ped told us and that we had read online so we weren't surprised.  They do it over at the hospital as outpatient.   So he is scheduled for 1st thing Thursday morning.  The procedure should only take about 10 minutes so that is a good thing.  He said you are normally there for 30 min to 2 hours.  So that isn't too bad.   Kids may be fussy the first day but should be back to normal the next day.  I took Thursday off and can take most of Friday as well just in case.  It will be interesting to see if the head tilt thing goes away once the eye is better.  The doctor said it is a possibility.

06/26/09 - Jesse had his 9 month checkup today.  He is doing good.  18 pounds and 27 inches.  (I think he is probably a tad longer but he was upset and didn't want to stretch out very much.)  The doctor said that is great.   He only had to have his hepatitis booster this time and get the hemoglobin test.  His results were 14.4 and they said that was good.  They are going to schedule him an appointment with the pediatric opthamologist to look at the tear duct on his right eye.  Otherwise the doctor said he is doing well and right on schedule development wise.  He said he wouldn't be suprised if he is an early walker.
