Courtney desined her jack-o-lantern all by herself.

Kelsey was proud of hers, too!

The girls in front of our tent. They were so excited about sleeping in it!

Oct 23: What a week!  It has been a tough week and I am pretty much emotionally drained.  Thank you for all of your sweet messages, your thoughts and your prayers during this challenging time.  I am on an emotional rollercoaster as I try to find answers to questions that I will probably never know the answers to, go through the grieving process, try my hardest to explain everything to Courtney in a way that she understands, all while trusting in God knowing that he is in control.

I was going through pictures to contribute some for a slide show that was being put together for Katie's memorial service that was here on Wednesday and decided to post some of my favorites with her on my "Pictures Page".  Feel free to look at those.  As I said, there was a Memorial Service here on Wednesday and it was perfect.  The chaplain did an excellent job, Katie's younger sister spoke about Katie, our friend Laura G. sang Amazing Grace, and it truly was a celebration of Katie's life.  I still can't believe that all of this has really happened and I am going to miss my friend so much.  I just feel blessed to have all of the memories that I do have with her from Korea and our 2 years together here in Italy.  I will never be able to go to Stradella's, use Oxy Clean, eat Sopapilla Cheesecake,  or have Nutella without thinking about Katie.

Two memorial funds have been set up for Katie.  Here is the information for both of them in case any of you would like to make a contribution.

Katie and me celebrating her 30th Birthday in January

Not a fun update, but one that I would like to share with all of you.

I have some really sad news to share about our good friend Katie.  You will probably recognize her in the picture as she was a good friend of ours in Korea and here in Italy.  She has a little boy Clark who turns 2 in December and last night (16 October) around 8:45 she had her second baby.  It was a little boy (they didn't know what it was) and named him Quinn.  He was 8 lbs 1 oz and a healthy little boy.  Long story short, they discovered that Katie was bleeding more than usual and they couldn't stop the bleeding.  They had her in the OR, about to prep her to do surgery when she coded and they couldn't save her.  She died just before midnight.  I have lost a dear friend and am heartbroken.  Please pray for her husband Jon and for Clark and Quinn as well as all of her wonderful family and friends.

Happy Birthday Kelsey: Kelsey had her birthday party at the bowling alley after a last minute change due weather.  She and all of the other kids had a great time bowling and running around.  The Dora cake was a big hit, too!  Our little 3 year old is such a bundle of joy these days and finds new ways every day to make us laugh.&...

Courtney's first day of Kindergarten (8 Sept):  Courtney loved her first day of Kindergarten!  Last Friday we got to go see her classroom and to say that she was excited is a complete understatement.  She had already met her teachers a few days before during her home visit, and seemed to be happy with them....

Day at the beach:  On August 28 we drove to one of the beaches that is about an hour away from us and we had a wonderful day.  The girls absolutely loved everything about it!  They played in the sand, built sandcastles, burried Daddy in the sand, swam in the water, collected seashells, and simply had fun.  It was a very relaxing...

"Middle Finger Story": Courtney and Chris were playing around one Saturday afternoon and for some reason Courtney kept pointing with her middle finger.  This was COMPLETELY innocent, but Chris didn't think that he should just let her keep doing it.  You never know when and where she would decide to do that.  So the two of t...

Have I told you lately how thankful I am for all your hard work and the time you spend creating this masterpiece. Well, I just did.

The videos captured all the precious facial expressions of those cute girls and it was like they were performing just for me. I loved it! Definitely the best Dorothy I have ever seen, from the top of her head...
